which escort are you?

Recommended Posts

This is what ford have in the 1997 sales brochure for the escort (i'm sad enough to have one) - does not include finnese/flight as these werent around then:

Encore - curtain raiser

CL - the smart choice

LX - shades of style

Si - confident at the edge

GTi - We race, you get the result

Estate - Boardroom coup

Cabriolet - stay cool as a breeze

Ghia - if the badge fits wear it

Ghia X - The ultimate expression of escort

also have 97 price list effective 8th april 1997 and includes prices of options.

strangely 1.6 and 1.8 versions of ghia/Si/LX are same price (i.e 1.6 si is same as 1.8 si)

leather trim as an option on a ghia x was £1090 on a £15685 car. spoiler was just £125

GTI's were cheaper than ghia x's - £14490 for a standard GTI 5 door

anyone want to know what theirs cost just ask me - price list doesnt include paints so i don't know how much extra mettalic or pearl paint was over standard white/red colours

I love the fact they refer to the GTi as "the result of the racing experience gained by ford"....Its actually the result of "sticking some plastic and leather to the Si"

I'd have to be the Ghia X, since I love luxury so much I couldnt "make do" with an escort ever again, unless it was the cossie to satisfy the boy racer part of me

Oh, and stevemo, is the "Freedom" in your brochure at all, or the mexico? Or just the manual 1.8TD LX estate?

Come to think of it, Does anyone on evo have an automatic?

1.8 ghia 5 door - £14135 with sunroof, £14385 with aircon

of those 3 only the 1.8TD LX estate is at £13390, TDi was £14450, with aircon £13640 and £14700 respectively

fully kitted ghia x hatch with leather, 15" alloys, boot spoiler, safety pack (ABS and passenger airbag), ICE 6000/CD ilo 5000 cd auto, all comes too:

probably can be more with dealer options. ghia x has as standard:

driver airbag

safeguard engine immobiliser

perimeter alarm

body colour side mouldings and body colour bumpers with integral front fog lights

metallic paint

14" alloys

air con

manual sunroof (i think elecric might have been dealer fit option as not mentioned in sales brochure)

lumbar support on drivers seat

reach adjustable steering column

wood-effect facia and gear lever surround

stereo radio/cassette, 4 speakers and 6 disc cd autochanger

quickclear including heated washer jets

thats why i got a ghia x :)
