Help needed escort gti

Right i just brought my 5dr escort gti on a s plate.

i have a few problems with it.

firstly i drove home after driveing 30miles and then turned engine off and then 2 mins after i tryed to start and it did hardly turn over,

so i jump leaded it and fired first time, So i guessed the battery was f*ked. i brought new battery and it starts fine now but was woundering if it would be the alternater thats broke?,

secondly this could be part of the above problem i hear a whinning noise alot and it seems to be when im dipping the clutch (its sound electrical tho). i change gear and take foot of the clutch and it like whines and its louder if i drive faster.is this somet to do with clucth as if im in neutral and put clutch down it does whine or alternater makeing the noise or somet elese. its comes from behind the dash area so maybe in the engine bay.

thirdly i had loads of condensation on windows this morning (mornign after i brought car) so i thought somet gotta be damp, i checked the car all over and i got to the boot and felt the thick carpet and it was drenched so i took it out which weighed a ton! and where the spare wheel was was full of water to the top!!!. ovsly theres me problem, but wat has caused this? the seals? somet blocked? the lexus lights on the back? or somet else

any help to the problems i have would be great.

thanks tony

your leak in the boot - check the light seals if it has any and if they are damaged

alternator is easily checked with a multi-meter - it should be throwing out approx 13 volts on the battery

not sure about the whinning noise tho

hope these help

i took car to shop where i brought battery and he tested it and said he think alternater is fine as 13v was on his meter when car was running.

think there is no seal on the lexus lights by the looks, is that normal lol?

they should have taken the seal off the original lights

if it the clutch bearing dont worry unless its very loud as most cars on here will have a noise from it

They are just standard rear lights, that will come complete with bulbs, bulb holders and seals - all in good condition

I dont think a pic is needed tbh??

well this car seems more nippy than that. dnt no why at almost half the price,

not bad milage, good lengh mot,

and needed 5 dr with 2 kids with me mrs and 2 with me ex.

so i do have cash to get car upto scratch.

plus if i need a clutch due tot hat whinning at least it should last me the time i own it for.

hard to get used to the low ness of the car its like on the floor! lol

wheels are worth a fair few hundred to.

Its just annoying ya see the niggly probs after u buy lol.

Im moving house soon and will have me own drive for 2 cars so i wouldnt mind another cab or another 306 gti-6.
