Craig855S
It'll be in your handbook, and should be available at the oil retailers shop/website surely
SteveB
There is always confusion about which oil because Ford changed their mind in '98. Up to '98 they stated 10W/40 in the handbook - after '98 they stated 5W/30. I'm pretty certain that the RS handbook will say 10W/40.

The I4 wasnt made for the escort after 98 so i'd go with what was written in the handbook that was made the same year as your car. Halfords say 5W30http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/...5581_langId_-1# Even if this isnt the ideal oil your car isnt going to blow up if you use it
SteveB
I've checked on the Castrol site - they say 10W/40. http://www.castrol.com/castrol/iframe.do?c...ntentId=7044829 TBH either is probably fine.
