bronze4door
well i bought this as a cheap project to hav a bit of a play with to try and get it sorted out and road worthy again its an X-reg finesse with 50k on the clock it was bought as a none runner with a slight dent in the passengers side door and rear arch here is the car http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/Picture374-2.jpghttp://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/Picture420-1.jpg with the slight body damage http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/Picture375-2.jpghttp://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/Picture376-2.jpghttp://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/Picture378-1.jpg so me and my dad tried to find out what was wrong with it and after trying to jump start it the engine just turned over really qucikly as there was no compression we whipped the rocker cover off and timed the engine up with number one piston at TCD and learned the timing was, we dont know what caused it but i had a new timing belt kit that was bought for my old escort before it got writtain off at the same time i was offered another 1.6 escort that the MOT was about to run out on and the clutch had gone so i bought that car to break for parts as my si needed a few bits and bobs and to use the head on the X-reg when the head was removed and teh pistons cleaned up we found all of 16 valves had hit the pistons and left marks http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/Picture420-2.jpghttp://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/Picture421-2.jpghttp://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/Picture419-1.jpg the new head was put with the new head gasket and timing belt kit with a jump start off the si it fired up but would not run properly so after a bit of head scratching and looking at the connnections and pipes the breather on the back of the inlet manifold had not been put back on and now it has been it runs sweet a trip to the scrap yard with my dad turned up an amparo blue escort with an undamaged rear door so this was purchased and put onto the car and it looks alot better http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/Picture414-1.jpghttp://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/Picture413-1.jpg and after a quick was this afternoon http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/Picture411-1.jpghttp://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/Picture412-1.jpghttp://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w267/bronze4door/Picture417-2.jpg igonore the none matching wheels as two have been taken off ready for taking to the track days as spares for the si the plan now is to get it through its MOT where i thing it will just need a wishbone but i dont know weather to use it or to sell it on as my MK1 escort should be getting painted in the next couple of weeks so i will need the room for when it comes home

bronze4door
Glad to see it back on road mate, and not being broken for bits Another Escort lives on yeah i was a bit short of cash at th time and didn't have the time to spend on it to get it fixed, but it runs now and the reason its took me so long is because i have had to keep ontop of the si and i keep breaking it

bronze4door
What the total outlay? And what do you value you it at now? Do a Mike Brewer and sell it on it stands me at £270 with the door a new battery and getting the head sorted as far as i know it needs a wishbone for its MOT but the big question is what will it be worth with a full MOT on it Edited February 25, 2010 by bronze4door
