scottg17
My 1st one was one of these if it starts and runs cars it will do, a stopgap... Needless to say i have been hooked ever since, im now on number 3 i find they are not bad in terms of reliability, if they do go wrong they are cheap to fix, they are also easy to fix. my only gripe with them is rust and the fact that they dont feel as solid on the road compared to a focus or a mondeo having either owned or driven the two of them. nothing that a set of lowering springs cant fix tho, the RS handles like its on rails Edited February 23, 2010 by scottg17
bronze4door
i was looking for a 306 coz they seemed cheaper to insure but when i looked at the condition of the ones in my budget they were all rough, at this point i looked at insuring an escort and it was a little bit dearer but for my budget i could get a better car condition car for the money i am now on my 3rd one that is on the road and i have had one for spares and another one as a bit of a project to get back road worthy
[ . D a r k // ]
I bought mine because they are cheap to buy, Fairly decently spec'd, Easily fixed if they go wrong and not too badly styled.

dutchkev
my 1st choice war a nissan amlera 1.4 (phase 1 or 2) but they didnt seam to come in my budget - we then looked at escorts as the 1.4 was relitivly cheap and cheerfull, then a 1.6 3 door amparo blue Si caught my eye one day and i thought itlooked lovley - untill i seen a 3 door GTi and thought - yup, i like em alot - and when i lernt the parts where interchangable i was sold there and then

Ratspeed
I bought mine because i just crashed the fiesta RS and i needed to get to work! It came up for £200 and now i love it too much to sell it! All together it stands me at £600. Its nowhere near as fast as my fiesta, or as good looking nor does it handle as well. but for some unkown reason i think its a cooool car. Going from a stripped out track weapon to a completely standard estate was a bit wierd to start with. But now its lowered, alloys etc i harrdly miss driving the RS. m.james
Best vans for business many years ago when I owned a string of electrical stores. But this time, because Lee wanted one.
stevmo3691
I chose to buy one as my dad had had a mk1 escort and still wants a mk1 RS2000. I've always liked the styling and wanted to prove to my brother that not all escorts are crap (he had a 1.6LX 5 door that was so unreliable) and when i decided to get rid of my rover i looked at other cars (including a couple of focus 1.6's) but kept going back to escorts. this is my first but wont be my last. when money allows and have space gonna get a mk6 RS2000 4x4 and keep the ghia x as my daily
tezmanian devil
i always wanted an esc cos from the day i first saw one, so bought an escort to make a rep with, but it was a rot box so the rep idea went out the window, but had 7-8 escort's since then, and will hopfully have an esc cos nxt year if all goes well feel's weird not driving a escort because i'v had soo many lol
rob888
Well the other half always wanted a white audi convertible...but the escort was cheaper and well it is white! Plus the price was very good and we needed to get another car as the Vauxhall is going back ( Yes I work for Vauxhall!!).On the Plus side my best mate lives and breathes Fords and so it helps that he knows his way round the car inside and out. Danzetec
At the time my first car was a mk3 fiesta and I wanted a Fiesta Si or Escort Mk6, unfortunately I got impatient and bored of saving so bought an Escort Mk5b 1.6LX. It was ok but I never really had any love for it and it wasn't until a year or so later a got the Mk6 I have now and have owned for the last 7 years... or so As a side thought I currently have 3 escorts and have owned 7 including the wife's cabrio Edited February 23, 2010 by Danzetec
DRAVEN
as title really, what made you choose an escort to drive? is it the styling, price, or what ? my reasons In order..... 1. styling (not to boxy not overly curvy with just a touch of aggression) 2. easy of maintanence (theres not much you cant fix on a driveway imo) 3. running costs (aslong as the above is kept up there pretty dam cheap to run) 4. comfort (a nice balance of comfort and handling is a essential) 5. qaulity of drive (obviously in comparison to equally aged vehicles) 6. Reliability (we all joke about - Fix Or Repair Daily but tbf a well maintained scort will go forever) I'd have to say the same..
