ECU help

Anyone know how I can find out what type ECU should be used with a particular 2ltr zetec engine? The engine was running perfectly in the donor vehicle but is now running like a pig. The van already had a 2ltr zetec in before but must have a different ECU model. The donor car was taken away & scrapped along with it's original ECU before we realised the problem!

 

I still have the logbook so can provide the chassis & engine numbers.

DESK, DEEP or DEWY ECU is required for the 2ltr conversion

There's nothing different between the different 2L engines worth talking about.

 

These are the important bits:-

 

- You're running a matched ECU, MAF, Fuel Injectors (2L)

 

- The sensors are functioning properly (even new ones can be faulty)

 

- There's no installation fault.

Cheers, but do you know how to find out which one is right, without trying them all?

 

I suspect that the ECU isn't matched now.

if memory serves me correctly, either of the 3 ECU's will run the 2ltr conversion

Well I must have got one of the 3 now (I'll have to check which) & it doesn't want to play. At least it's a start.
