Since joining ive made loads of mistakes of buying things for my Van a MK6 and then they dont fit, im a total newbie at this Customizing malarky so i intend to ask more questions and ask for more advice .................... sorry in advance :innocent:

any how, i want to go for the RS look with the van and had a great chat with Stu about what parts i need from Fibresports, however they one thing they dont sell is the Vented RS Bonnet.

ive found this and asked the obligatory question " will it fit my van "

Heres the discription

Removed from a L-reg, escort cosworth which has covered 66k miles in excellent condition and will fit most models

and the answer to my question

hi yes but you need to fit a grill aswell

thanks

so over to you the experts

What year is your van?

If it's a 1991/2 (MK5a), it will fit straight on, if it's 92-95 (MK5b) you'll need to fit a MK5a bonnet catch and find a grill for it, if it's a 95-2001 (MK6) then you'll need a MK5a bonnet catch and to convert to MK5 lights and bumper too, which is obviously more involved :)

It isn't that hard to convert mate. Don't let it put you off, the MK5 front end is really nice looking. The headlights and bumpers can be had pretty cheap. The bumper bolts straight on, and the bonnet will too, so will the bonnet catch, just a little tweaking to get the lights fitted, but it isn't the biggest job :thumb:

To do the conversion 'properly' you need the wings, Slam Panel, lights, bumper, grille, lights, bonnet catch and fogs. You can get off with it with the mk6 wings i think but it wont look right. You will need to modify the wiring for the indicators as they are in the bumper on a mk5 and i thnk change the multi plugs on the fogs too. hope this helps Edited by scottg17

you dont have to change the wings or the front panel, bit of modding here and there and it does work.... not all mk5's have indicators in the bumpers neither.

but yeah that bonnet wont fit a mk6 :) conversions really not that hard to do though
