project impossible

Ok, Its going to either way cost me an arm and at least both my legs to get this to the show in 10 days thats without getting the paint perfect, whether i get mates and evo friends to help out with tools, knowledge and hands on or just take it to a garage, so I thought lets just get it to my local and see what they have to say.

So this morning I had it towed down to the garage, they all came out and had a nosey and they said id be looking at 300+ to sort the electrics out alone! then they can have a look at the engine to see if it can be fixed! this is going to fookin skint me! anyway the boss is calling it project impossible as I told him I need it running and mot'd within 10 days, he just told me the electrician is going to swear at him! hah!

so I may be attending with bloo..... then again, I may be coming in my other escort will just have to see.

what electrics actually need sorting? whats in place and whats missing? is the old loom not there? if so isnt it just a case of plug it into a working turbo diesel motor?

let me just upload a nice pic of the interior as it stands for you to go.... oh rubbish too.......

what has actually been done to it tho danny, i know you need a new fusebox and the wire are messy BUT have they been cut or ripped out or are they just all opver the place?

surely you can swap the fusebox taper the wires up neatly and it'l all hide behind a dash :)

then the engine loom is a case of plugging it in the rite bit :)

i know this sounds stupid but i really dont know, if chappers did mention it i have forgot but im sure i didnt ask. i didnt think much of it till i actually got it home and had a proper look. and obviously everyone elses comments that saw it was like WTF! only then realised its waaaaay out of my league!

ps, there is a few cut/broken wires/cables here and there.

id get in touch and ask, also see if you can find where the cut/broken wires connect to eachother, id do that first.

trace what you can see and get it connected get the engine in and get that plugged in. THEN see what probs you have if its not working rather than worry about it. least with everything in place you can see what isnt working :) i bet some wires are for the dash lights etc anyway ;)

If you were local to me i'd help you get it in order mate. Fcuk paying £300 for someone to splice a few wires together and plug the fusebox/dash back in. I hope there is an Evo-ite local to you who is happy to help. as £300 for that job is a LOT of money for a task that is not at all hard to do so long as you have a little bit of experience and aren't afraid of screwdrivers

its gonna look impossble and frightening going by that pic, but if your methodical about it you sould be able to go through it and figure out if anything wiring related is missing or needs attention.....10 days tho is alot to ask, even with a fully qaulified auto spark.

Id forget about that deadline for the sake of realism and cost and concentrate on taking your time going over the project with a careful eye, theres plenty of other shows you can aim for that wont require bankrupcy and chance to make :thumb:

yeah.... well the garage said they will be in touch to tell me were there at by the end of the day so will update as soon as i hear from them. the thing that did concern me was he said the electrician is good "when he's there", so apparently he does disappearing acts throughout the day, ill never get it bleedin done!

Agreed.

I'd just take your time and work through it. I'm sure someone off here could lend a hand, even if it's just with photos and advice. £300 is a shed-load of dollar to fork out just to make one show!

with lee on this one, you MIGHT get the csr back together in 10 days - but chances are it'll either run like a bag of shite or something wont work electrical wise, and you have to strip down and start all over again

so do it slowly, and do it right once

yeah your both right there! just wanted to get it mobile.... i have alot of things now i want to do to it, but its kind of hard while its not road legal to take it places to have work done ect. just want an mot slapped on it really for the convenience of things.

aswell as the show of course.
