Not likely to be open at this time of night & they surely wont start work until his say so.Theres no panic but Danny I would consider Lee's offer to get the car back. Has he not said to go ahead to them pete? Hope not... I will go collect it tomorrow if he has lol.... have text him but his number must have changed. danny1987 Posted March 10, 2010 Author Share Posted March 10, 2010 yeah, sounds good will save me another 35 quid.... they have locked it up in the storage place at there unit or what ever they also shut at 5 every day. the reason im being hasty about getting it out of there is because, if i do, and i know this garage quite well so they wouldnt mess me about but if i take it away from them then in a few weeks take it back half done they most likely wont want to know. PeeWee Posted March 10, 2010 Share Posted March 10, 2010 they think i should sell it back to whoever i bought it from as its not worth it... in my eyes it is! so i said tell me whats the problem as im on a forum and a few people on there can help me get the specific bits i need (hopefully) so they said im looking at a time scale of 1month to be complete obviously they cant work on it every day so the first part is the electricians job he think it will take him 4-5 days to do the electrics he said the way its been wired up is a fire hazard, a fuse connected to the battery was botch job apparently and was melting! then after hes done his bit the mechanic gets to work anyway in total the say its labour of pushing £1000! then they gave me a list of parts which i need before they can even start the project which im hoping people on here can help me find ready..... now i have told them to go ahead with it although they and most others will now think im mad and am starting to think it myself but atleast i will have kind of achieved something by getting this back on the road even though i havent done the labour and stuff my self! now what do u all think of that! balls! meekstaaa Posted March 10, 2010 Share Posted March 10, 2010 my 2 pence: I would listen to everyone on here. Just get it back home, strip it all the way back to bare bones and start again. That's if you think its worth it, or just get rid and move on to something else. If i had the money and what not i would use this as a good excuse to learn a lot about cars and strip and start again myself with a petrol engine in it, there will be lots of help on here for not only advice but also a hand. If they have that attitude to someone doing part of the labour themselves then they are not worth thinking about Danny.Had plenty of MOT times where I have took it home to do brakes, arms, exhaust then return for jobs like welding, theres nothing wrong with it as long as its done correct & certainly none of their business if you choose that route. You might be surprised Danny, yes its happend a few times on EVO in the past & I would love to see this being another fruitful result.Usually in the shape of a thread in the meets section & planned accordingly.Many a good time had & costs cut this way. Maybe it would be wiser to get another Escort and nick stuff like the skirts & spats of the 5b and bang them on that? I know you obviously like this car but sometimes you have to take a step back and use your head.... If people are willing to come and help you though, i'd probably pop round bud, you're literally on my doorstep, surprised you aint seen me i have been around near you a bit recently. I cant offer any help fixing it tbh as it really aint my area of expertise haha, i can however bring humour and keep up team morale, as people on here will tell you i do well lol....
