After Rallying, for me the most exciting motorsport is the British Touring Car Championship, and its back in just over two weeks. I know many on here are fans.

Forget the glamour and money of F1, this is real racing, proper door to door, edge of your seat stuff. More overtaking and more contact, lovely!

IIRC, there are now no manufacturers teams running, so its all privateers which I see as more at stake so every point really counts.

Cant wait :D

I'll have to try and remember to watch it. The fact it's on ITV4 makes it hard to remember it's on.. Think i'll just set the virgin box to record them all and ill watch them whenever I remember its on the hard drive..

BTCC died for me when they changed the rules back late 90's or early 00's killing the saloon's off and introduced the hatchbacks etc. Have tried a few times to get back into it but just not the same seeing team halfords or whatever, much preferred it when it was 2 cars from each marque, volvo, audi, Renault, Nissan, Honda, Peugeot, BMW, Ford etc

Don't forget Vauxhall. I was a big John Cleland fan

I lost interest in BTCC when Volvo introduced the estate!
I Can't wait for it to start, Cheers for the update Dan.

Imo that was the begining of some of the best years of btcc, certainly of the 90's anyway. Once the only car on the track was the astra after all the rule changes in the late 90's i lost interest for years until the mid 00's.

i wish i had looked on the website earlier today as i would of gone to oulton park for a nosey at the new cars

the best years were the 90's

specially with drivers like tim harvey, phil cox, alain menu, frank biela, john cleland just to mention a few

but yeah it is still good fun to watch and it is better than f1
