alright peeps,

First although I am a newbie I have read all the other posts and do know how to use the search !

Anyway, reading all the other posts it seems that adding the cams et al to the 105 engine doesnt do much but move the powerband up, SO are we saying that the standard 130 BHP XR3i is actually slower than the 105 one unless you are ragging it over a certain rev range, is there no more lower power at all from the 25 extra BHP ???

Can it be confirmed for definate, I have a Early 105 and I have sitting here ready to go on, all from a early 130 XR3i (all of which cost me pretty much bugger all) a already skimmed head with cams, ECU, MAF and TB, will this lot theroretically make my engine the same as the XR3i one ??

Ive also nicked a load of other bits off the car as well, decat, induction kit, oil breather, stainless cat back etc

any thoughts

cheers

Brett

I've only ever heard that they are basically samish but the 130 is faster at higher revs. I might be wrong, but yeh thats all i've heard.

I don't think there is such a difference that you should disregard a 105 XR3i because as long as the engine is strong, it can still be a good car.

The 130ps engine breathes better at higher rpm at a cost, low end torque. I suppose you could call the 105ps engine a 'town' engine and the 130ps engine a 'race' engine. The 115ps is a compromise between the two.
So what is the difference between the two? manifold and cam profile?
Inlet manifold, different cams and i think a bigger throttle body
It gets asked a lot, use the search.
