my mot due around september time and i would like to get it checked over and that to see what needs doing , do mot stations charge the same price to do this?
Yea there are such a thing as "Pre-MOT's" it's around the same price as a regular MOT around here
You can check the majority of it yourself
Some garages don't charge you for a retest, should it fail the first time and they need to get it up to scratch.

Was there any advisories on the last MOT ?

If so get them sorted, if not just have the MOT done 28days before the due date and then you have plenty of time to get any problems done

not really, if you fail your car now has no MOT, if you passed your MOT today then had another tomorrow and it failed your car would have no MOT.

Sorry mate, not true. A fail doesn't invalidate an outstanding mot certificate. It would be perfectly legal to drive the car for the remainding 28 days regarding MOT, but you would still be driving a car with defects, which is a nobbish thing to do. Its a bit of a stupid rule really.

are you 100% sure? as we had a thread about this ages ago with police and mot inspectors saying what i have...

Tip top tip of the day:

Find a local college with a mechanical and engineering department... A tutor will be more than happy to get your car up on the ramps and let students see if it will fial an MOT... Then they go over it and let students know who is right and wrong..

The students aint doing any work to your car so no risks and you get to find out if your car will fail or not... WIN WIN!!!

Yep, well 99% sure mate. I'm an MOT man and we have this aksed all the time at work :thumb:

As for the police, they would probably still do you for driving a car with defects

fair play mate, i dont know for sure i can only go from what i have read, either way PERSONALLY i wouldnt risk it. :thumb:
i always have my car mot'd a month before its due and my mot tester said it will still be mot'd untill the previous mot runs out unless i sort it and get it re tested. but as said above police would probably try and do you!
