Posted March 19, 201014 yr Right I thought it was much clutch on the way out causing the jerking, But I'm thinking it is now an electrical problem. I was driving along earlier and the car cut out just after I took a corner and dipped the clutch, So quickly turned the key to the acc position and then restated the car selected the right gear then continued. I did cut out on me about 2 weeks ago in the same situation (come off corner and dipped clutch)If the car had been in gear it would have just bump stated itself again to keep on going, Which I think is the recent jerks that have been happening. I'm pretty sure it's not the fuel pump as I have no trouble starting the car or keeping it going. So could it be a dodgy earth causing the cutting out problem?, Or am I looking at my old friend the fusebox?
March 19, 201014 yr Surely if there was a major prob ,it would cut out all the time ,not only once in two weeks ,it is annoying when these things happen as it could be a number of things ,idle valve ,etc
March 19, 201014 yr Author Surely if there was a major prob ,it would cut out all the time ,not only once in two weeks ,it is annoying when these things happen as it could be a number of things ,idle valve ,etc ICV, MAF meter etc all been cleaned a couple of months ago and all working, It's fine when on a flat or straight bit of road and when sat ticking over. Just jerks/has cut out when it gets twisty or bumpy.
March 19, 201014 yr Stupid question but have you checked your battery terminals, if one is loose and looses contact with battery it will cut the car out.... SteveMo had this very issue and wondered why his car would not start, it was because the terminal was loose and he never thought to check it.
March 19, 201014 yr Author yeah just double checked the battery terminals and there bolted though the connectors tightly and securely.
March 19, 201014 yr i had this problem a while ago with my old mk5b.... check the fuel pump relay , mine had a dry solder so every now and then it would cut out .. especially going round corners
