Posted March 23, 201014 yr My RS is letting off a fair bit of smoke out of the oil breather filter at the back of the engine and there is always a strong smell of fuel present. Also it is leaking oil from somewhere after being run and a puts out a bit of white smoke from the exhaust even after a good run..the ride is also quite jerky but i expected this from an old car. Before i go on a hunt for problems do the symptoms sound familiar and is there anything i should particularly go looking for?? much appreciated guys Also there is a nocking noise evry time i change pace really in the n/s front wheel reigion and some scraping noises every now and then but no signs of tyres rubbing which is what it sounds like???

March 23, 201014 yr Author The breather is sealed so you shouldn't get any smoke from it? the small k&n type breather at the back..defianately got smoke coming out So put the proper stuff back on........... didnt come with the car am in the process of getting original parts back for it but surely if theres smoke and there shouldnt be then changing back to original parts wouldnt fix the problem it would just hide it? hence why im asking, should i be worried its there in the first place?
March 23, 201014 yr That depends if it's truly smoke or not... you will get vapour/smell coming out of the rocker cover, which is why it's redirected back through the intake from the factory.
March 23, 201014 yr on my rst, if its on full boost you can see vapour coming out the breather, you might be confusing that with smoke?
March 24, 201014 yr Author on my rst, if its on full boost you can see vapour coming out the breather, you might be confusing that with smoke? not had a great deal of time to really look into it properly, at the weekend ill be out there for the day having as much off as possible to clean out etc and really assess the situation, is this vapour constanly present on tickover? also..strong smell of fumes?? oil leak?? am hoping that once the pipes are ceaned out this may help the problems as there may be a slight bloackage or something causing it to choke up a bit hence smoke and oil escaping?
March 24, 201014 yr sounds like just a after market breather has been put on to me instead of the standard stuff, which is why you are seeing the vapours from the breather.
