MIKE W
Hi guys, I was wondering how much a proper detail would cost. If i was wanting a full car done, removing swirls and any other little marks and basically getting it mint and shiny. I wanted to know how much this kind of work costs and how long it takes roughly. Also can anyone recommend anyone in the North West if possible? Cheers
LiamGTR
You're looking at atleast a few hundred quid for what you want, can obviously go upto stupid prices aswell
Tez162003
prices will vary dramatically. depends if its a company or someone who does it as a hobby with the odd job. I only do freinds cars really, i dont offer detailing to people. If i do a car its really just a hobby so i charge materials plus couple of drinks really, pros will charge anywhere from couple of hundred up to £600 or so for a full day detail

Bikerestorer
It costs enough to pay yourself 2-3 days off and do it yourself ;-) they do a great job but so could you in 3 days lol. If you get it done let me know how it turns out. <-----in good weather i wax hoover and clean my car every day, then weekly door reveals 3 monthly under carpets and behind bumpers and light fittings, behind number plates, rubber trims are removed and t cut then wax.... its an ocd thang! MIKE W
Yeh i was expecting to pay a few hundred. I'm good at cleaning my car but going at one with a proper polisher etc i'm not confident about, would rather pay someone who knows what they are doing. This isnt for my Escort btw.... Where can i look to find detailers, i had a quick look on DW Thanks for the replies...

rachyxx
you mean you want the car mopped? why so expensive? alot less than that round here Edited March 29, 2010 by rachyxx
Tez162003
you mean you want the car mopped? why so expensive? alot less than that round here mopped is what a bodyshop does, usually very poorly at that, mopping is offen used to get paintwork flat, where as detailing is what it says... detail, detailing is very precise and can get rid of everything from swirls, to marring, to holograms on the paintwork. I have seen "mopping" done before and it does bugger all. even if it did, they only go over the main part of big panels, they dont mask up rubbers and seals to avoid melting them. they just dont go near them. mopping - cheapdetailing - expensive you get what you pay for with this imo also detailing is more tham the machine aspect, is full paint preperation, cleanse, rejuvination and sealed afterwards for longevity off the paintwork
