Mad Man Measures
I already have pinouts for these ECU's off auto data but they don’t match up with the loom i.e. certain things are not in the locations they are supposed to be according to the diagrams. I would be very great full if any 1 can give me the actual pinouts
ScORTED
what your trying to do won't work without a loom change as th emk6 is internal pats (which can be disabled) and internal edis, whereas the mk5 is external edis which means changing the engine loom or wiring in the edis system, realistically you'd need to swap the fuse box and the car loom too and were talking a lot of trouble
JC
Auto data can be wrong too, it reckons my car runs EEC-V!!!

ScORTED
are you still using the full mk6 loom with pats?
Mad Man Measures
are you still using the full mk6 loom with pats?I am useing the mk 6 loom but i have removed the pats and i am useing the mk 5 (pre pats) ECU
ScORTED
its possible but its not worth it, you'd be better off transfering the whole mk5a loom and changing the wiring plugs for the lights etc where necessary, I have tried this although i'm not a fan of rewiring cars completely so i gave up and changed the full loom
Stu
I'm still a bit lost why you've gone this route instead of just using the original GTI stuff? The engines aren't different enough to warrant the headache you are bringing onto yourself!

I can do a custom chip if this is the case..

Stu
Cool, I do intend to get a decat and 4-2-1 manifould in a few months time how much I am looking for the chip? Depends on how much work is required really (probably not much/nothing). I think I have the maps for the SLUG ECU laying about somewhere so shouldn't be a problem to tweak them. The way I would approach this is put all the GTI stuff back on (loom, ecu, injectors, maf, inlet manifold+tb) - get it running right and then the fuelling can be checked out on the road. ScORTED
have you got fuel or spark? my guess is the pats is cocked up
Stu
Make sure the correct plug is on the crank sensor..
