Posted April 16, 201014 yr I have a slight problem regarding instrument clock and i just want to make sure its nothing ive done. My Van had standard instrument clocks that were Digi however they didnt have the rev counter there was some kind of picture there instead. Ive recently purchased some White faced instrument clocks that are Digi and i thought it would be a case of a simple swop over, diconnect the lead remove old clocks insert new re-connect and away you go. but theres nothing working ...................... all the little round lights work ie parking light etc but the Rev counter, Speedo and i think the petrol and temp gauge do nothing. Is it a simple case that the Van is not compatible with white faced clocks or does everything have to be re-wired. or which i fear has happened have a been sold yet again another duff item. Digi clocks are so hard to get hold of so im a little annoyed this has happened to me again Edited April 16, 201014 yr by Simon69
April 16, 201014 yr That sounds like duff clocks mate.I've done the white clock conversion in my old van and everything worked fine. How clean is the connector? Is it in properly? Are any pins bent or missing?

The connector that goes into the clocks is fine as the old set of clocks i removed are back in and working fine, the connector port on the new white faced clocks look fine mate to be honest all the pins seem to be there and its relatively clean

Or didn't you see it? I'd find a set of basic digi clocks and try them - if they work you know it's the clocks.

My old set of Standard clocks are digi and they work fine Thanks for your help So assuming the White clocks are duff then, is it possible to take parts from my Digi clocks and add them to the White faced clocks in order to get them working ie swop the circuit board over, or is this going to be more hassel than its worth. im gutted to be honest as White faced Digi Clocks are hard to get hold of
April 16, 201014 yr It's very easy to swap the gauges over. That's what i'd do, as you'd retain your odometer reading too.

That's what i'd do, as you'd retain your odometer reading too.[/quote yep, spent an Hour or so taking the Units apart and discovered that the actual Circuit board is duff on the new Cluster, so i took the circuit board out of my standard cluster popped into the White faced cluster and bingo it works. One thing though , the rev counter is not working but i noticed that there are four soldered connectors that the pins fit into, these are missing on the standard cluster so its just a case of de-soldering the connectors off the duff circuit board and soldering them into the working circuit board and that should do the trick. Im assuming that once ive done that the rev counter will work im hoping the wiring is the same for all models !! i know its not EVO policy to get involved in transactions but do you think i should still push for some kind of refund or at least a bit of compensation back as i didnt recieve what i paid for.............. lets be honest about im pretty gutted and pissed as ive also lost the chance to sell on a perfectly good Standard digi cluster i had Edited April 16, 201014 yr by Simon69
April 16, 201014 yr Author Ask the seller what he can do, he may not have been aware of the problem? It would seem that is the case, which doesnt look good for me does it
April 16, 201014 yr theres no mechanical/electrical difference between the wiring of white facia dials and standards (wether they be rev counter or not)....even without a rev counter being inplace originally Ive never found a case were even without the rev counter the wiring for one wasnt present. its literally "plug and play" Id say the new clocks are bollix'ed personally
April 16, 201014 yr Author Id say the new clocks are bollix'ed personally Exactly and now im getting a lame excuse that they are from a Fiesta Zetec, which i was not told about incidently and the rev counter will not work anyway, wether this is true or not the fact remains ive been sold something that doesnt work and i wont get a refund or good will part payment because the seller will not be able to sell them on. unbelieveable, makes you wonder how much more crap is out there that doesnt work waiting for the unsuspecting buyer
