Simon69
Apologise's if this is not the right way to go about this but i just wanted to gauge a bit of interest. Ive noticed that there are one or two football fans here and with the World cup fast approaching what are the chances of having a Football meet to cheer on the next World Champions England I know in the midlands they erect Large screens for people to get together and view the match and i thought we could look for somewhere central for us all to get together, meet up have a chat and watch the game just a thought

LiamGTR
Yea sounds like an idea if anyone around the North East knows a good place and it's not a million miles away i'm up for it, preferably somewhere that sells food as i'm more of an eater than a drinker
Simon69
ive found this Article relating to the BBC coverage of outside broad casts of England Matches. There are 6 venues around the country that will be showing Live World cup Football and Unfortunately this does not include the Showing of England matches as local authorities are worried about Health and safety and anti social and capacity issues. so maybe this event is a no goer before the world cup starts The BBC will be operating 8 huge Public Space Broadcasting Screens which will be carrying the World Cup. 6 of these are our fixed city centre locations [birmingham, Bradford, Hull, Leeds, Manchester & Rotherham]. The last two screens will be taking the passion, thrills and excitement of the beautiful game around the whole of the UK - across England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and to the Channel Islands. Like all our screens there'll be loads of entertainment on offer; interactive games, crowd cams, the chance to text your views to the screen and to give your own player ratings. And these events are for everyone who wants a family friendly atmosphere - a safe environment for fans of all ages to share in the unique atmosphere of the World Cup. BIRMINGHAM, CHAMBERLAIN SQUAREIt's a Summer of Fun on Big Screen Birmingham in the city's Chamberlain Square. It will be a family-friendly place for all the World Cup football matches - though not the England games as the council and police have advised us not to show them for safety and capacity reasons. However we will be showing Wimbledon to all the crowds who gather sitting on the steps in front of the screen to form our own "Henman Hill" or "Murray Mount" and giving everyone a chance to try out their own sporting prowess with our interactive screen football, tennis and Formula 1 games. BRADFORD, CENTENARY SQUAREIt's what we've all been waiting for since we won the 1966 World Cup, a chance for victory again! 40 years on we pin our hopes and dreams on Beckham, Gerrard, Walcott and most of all Rooney (he has to be fit at least by the 2nd round for us to win the World Cup). And where better to see the drama unfold than on the Big Screen Bradford in Centenary Square?! After all this blow-out feast of football only comes every 4 years, so let's make the most of it! You can catch all the action of the BBC games, kick by kick on the Big Screen, plus take part in some interactive games. HULL, QUEEN VICTORIA SQUAREQueen Victoria Square in Hull is where you'll find your Sun Screen! This summer, the Big Screen is on hand to make it a super, fun time. It's the family friendly place where you can enjoy the best World Cup experience. We'll be showing all of the England games, as well as all of the BBC coverage of the World Cup. Please remember that it is an alcohol-free area - there are plenty of pubs where you can have a beer and watch the games!! There's also Wimbledon, where you can watch the centre court action from our very own Henman's Hull!!! Plus we've got loads of games to play with the Singstar Bus coming soon! LEEDS, MILLENNIUM SQUAREThe World Cup 2006 comes to Millennium Square in Leeds with style! This purpose built event space will 'capture the moment' of every game over what has been hyped as England's best chance yet to bring the World Cup home. MANCHESTER, EXCHANGE SQUAREIts summer in the city and the Manchester Big Screen is hot! We’re bringing World Cup 2006 action direct to Exchange Square For safety reasons, England matches are not being screened in Exchange Square. Look out here for news of future England screenings taking place elsewhere in the city. Anyone for tennis? It wouldn’t be summer without Wimbledon on the Big Screen, so take your seats for all the best coverage. Plus you too can play, with our interactive virtual tennis game. ROTHERHAM, ALL SAINTS SQUAREWhat better way to start the summer than by watching the World Cup on Big Screen Rotherham in All Saints Square?! We live in hope that Germany's opening ceremony is just like the one hosted by them in 1974, with permed dancers springing from giant footballs, but more importantly we live in hope that England will lead us to victory. And you can see it all first on Big Screen Rotherham. Plus throughout the summer you can take part in special family events in the square. THE TOURING SCREENThese two vast screens will be on the back of trucks and they'll cover thousands of miles to help many thousands more of you to enjoy the World Cup big-screen-style. For the biggest games our trucks will be based in larger locations and everyone will be welcome. On other days we'll be visiting schools, sports clubs, workplaces and special sites where we'll be hunting down the most passionate fans for each of the 32 national teams. Sometimes we'll be able to tell you, via this site, well in advance where our screens are going, other times it will have to be secret. And for one game - the final - even we don't know yet! BBC Radio 5 Live have offered one of our screens as a prize for Final Day to the most footie-mad street in the UK. You can trace the progress of our touring World Cup screens here and via BBC Sport Online. bbc world cup
LiamGTR
You think if England are in the final we will all get a day off work/college to watch it? I think it should be law if you're interested in the game Edited April 19, 2010 by LiamGTR

I think it should be law if you're interested in the game The final is usually on a staurday but my guess is the streets would be pretty quiet
LiamGTR
Sure nearly every pub in the world will be playing the final And loads of places will have the world cup on, so there really will be MORE than enough places to go if people really want to meet up
