April 22, 201014 yr When you untwist the door loom connecter from the car does anyone know what pins should be there for electric mirrors? ive looked at another escort today and it had an inner circle of pins on the socket that sticks out of the car where mine has only got one pin! Thanx Roy.best just changing the loom over for this if you wanting electric mirrors or central locking. got both sides kicking about let me know if you want them
April 22, 201014 yr Author Im not sure if ive got the wiring on the car loom,i know the door looms are changable but when you look at the connection from the car loom it only has the outside circle of pins where as another escort i had a look at had 5 pins in the middle aswell as the outside one's(if that make's sense)
April 22, 201014 yr Your find the car loom should be wired ready, so with some high spec door looms it will all work
April 22, 201014 yr Author I checked that first and the plug is'nt there inside the door, but it's the wiring on the car side that im questioning as i dont want to pay out for door looms when the car is 'nt wired for it anyway
April 22, 201014 yr you only need the loom to be in the door. My car did not have the plug on the door loom, so swapped the loom with in the door for one from a Ghia and its all worked fine
April 22, 201014 yr You should be fine by just fitting the door looms. My 1999 V-reg Escort Finesse did not have the connector in the door for the electric mirrors. I fitted the higher spec door looms, and the mirrors worked straight away. The connector in the door piller had the correct connections and power, so once the door wiring was all connected up the mirrors worked. Rob. Edited April 22, 201014 yr by mk2xr2
April 23, 201014 yr If your car has heated rear screen you need the loom in the door and the electric mirrors. The electric mirrors are heated and work of the rear screen. That's correct i hope, that was my understanding fitted them to mine only needed the mirrors.
April 25, 201014 yr on the question of door looms can the fiesta door looms be used on a mk6 escort? or at the very least be made to work with an escort as I canot find a escort door loom with electric mirrors anywear... here is a link to what I mean http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fiesta-Zetec-1-4-16v...=item3a4e2fec17
April 25, 201014 yr but arnt Vans wired differently to Cars anyway, ?? Vans dont usually come with Elec Mirrors and central locking, or are there different specs for Vans, id always assumed vanst were just bog standard. If its a simple case of just plugging in a wiring Loom then id be up for getting both the passenger and driver loom too
