PeeWee
Ok, well im ok washing the car & also using srp.My problem is understanding the wax.I purchased a megs cleaner wax (paste tin), I also got megs nxt Tech Wax 2.0 (paste tin).So do I wash/shampoo, AG super resin polish, cleaner wax then protect with the Tech Wax?Or is this overkill? Im not sure if using the cleaner wax is undoing the polish work you see? Edited May 8, 2010 by PeeWee
MikeM
I would have thought that the cleaner wax would undo the SRP? Seeing as the wax is a cleaner and sometimes contain extra abrasives which help scrub and clean the paint. I would personally leave the cleaner wax and wash, polish and wax. Have you used clay? Worth doing before polishing so you have a nice, clean and smooth surface to apply the polish.
PeeWee
It will be clayed but not just yet. I also think its best not to clay the freshly painted rear quarter, bumpers & skirts as it was only done about 3 weeks ago?
Simonez
I think youll find the Cleaner wax has the same sort of propertys are SRP, its a polish which preps the paintowrk for the wax, id do this: Wash (2 bucket method)SRP / Cleaner wax, which ever you preferWax jobs a good one id be very careful claying new paint, id let it set a little while longer mate, Edited May 9, 2010 by Simonez

I wouldnt think fresh paint if looked after correctly/protected would need claying for years to come?Anyway, came up lovely. http://i663.photobucket.com/albums/uu360/peeweeevo/CabbyWaxed/DSCF0319.jpghttp://i663.photobucket.com/albums/uu360/peeweeevo/CabbyWaxed/DSCF0318.jpghttp://i663.photobucket.com/albums/uu360/peeweeevo/CabbyWaxed/DSCF0308.jpghttp://i663.photobucket.com/albums/uu360/peeweeevo/CabbyWaxed/DSCF0315.jpg

Simonez
Looks great mate, and fresh paint will not require claying yet, the old paint work might be worth a shot, does the old paint feel smooth? or rough? great results

scottg17
the roughness is rubbish like grit and that stuck in the paint... Megs smooth surface clay is great and easy to use
Tez162003
lol @ grit and stuff not always "grit" stuck in your paintwork, its mainly brake dust, industrial fall out, tar spots, tree sap etc etc and clay can even remove overspray if done correctly with aggresive enough clay I agree though, good starter is definatly the megs clay kit, good mild clay for beginners, cant do too much damage with that just for the love of god make sure is always well lubed up on the panel! and stay away for Bilt Hamber, The lure of cheapness becasue you can use water instead of a proper lube which costs money is not worth it, i used it and thought poorly of it, I like the sonus clays and megs pro clays personally. Just be careful if you ever try a more agressive clay in the future.
Trig
Bilt Hamber soft is good, well I think it is, I get on well with it, but I do use a diluted Last Touch (4 or 5 to 1) as a lube for it, I didnt like it with water.

Trig
The Clay Magic ones are the best as far as Im concerned (megs, Dodo grey/purple), its the copies that I find harder to use.
