So much money for such little power. Zetecs are rubbish for turbo'ing.

Get a VW, get an R32 engine, some of them have been turbo'd to 600-700hp. Thats a sickening amount of power, theres a corrado with a 650hp r32 engine in it, its a 4 wheels drive, he claims that it just spins in 1st, 2nd and 3rd and betime it stops spinning you're going way too fast anyway.

Apparently it breaks alot, because theres always going to be the weakest part.

How much did they cost to build then?

I saw a ZT recently that was over 550bhp, from a 2.0 four pot. The R32 engine is a 3.2 V6, so it stands to reason that it could produce more power; it's got two more cylinders and an extra 1200cc to help it along...

I'm sure the Zetec is far from perfect in terms of engine design, but for an 18 year old engine that was never designed to have a turbo nailed to it, I think it does ok to be honest.

What a load of (irrelevant) crap.. move on..

Theres no need to be like that Stu.

Your post didn't really add anything beneficial though did it...

Well i think the r32 build was probs around £8-10k. Thats with alot of custom made parts. You can get a turbo kit for a vr6 which can see gains of 400bhp.

£8-10k could get you a 400bhp Zetec turbo engine.

It's irrelevant though isn't it, you're comparing a 3.2 V6 from the early 2000s to a 2.0 four pot from 18 years ago. Totally different and not really related to the topic.

Maybe you should go to the dub sites, as you seem a bit of a fan

I (obviously) disagree. Your wild statement of "Zetecs are rubbish for turbo'ing" is either pure nonsense (as they turbocharge just fine), based on a silly comparison (eg comparing a 2L 4 pot to a v6...) or simply a lack of understanding (likely).

Your comment was irrelevant because you compared apples to oranges. It was also unnecessary and offtopic.

i think you've all been trolled nom nom nom nom
That was always the other option.

Well not looking to spend thousands. Keeping it ford tho as I like em. Just thinking of putting the fiesta rst head on and running the efi managment seen it done before just wondered if anyone had done it on here
and here i was expecting pictures of escort turbos :nutter:

no point putting a 8 valve head on and removing the 16v one

your best bet is buy another engine to work on , ideally a 2 litre

find a good machine shop or just someone who knows how to put a engine together

the breather on the front of the block needs blocking off either with a custom bung/core plug or a plate bonded and bolted over the hole

just below that a oil return needs drilling into the block

the oil feed used on these is the escort turbo one that feeds from the oil pressure switch on the back of the block

if running a 2 litre swap the sump, oil pickup and water pumps for 1.8 items

buy a de comp plate

buy a conversion plate to allow a escort rs turbo exhaust manifold to be fitted without having to redrill the head

buy a conversion plate to allow the fiesta turbo inlet manifold to be fitted

buy the fiesta turbo ofab management this is better than the later ofac(off the top of my head i think there is only 6 wires to connect to get this to run)

buy a set of beige injectors

buy a decent t3 turbo

buy a front mount intercooler plenty to choose from on ebay(although id recomend a escort rs turbo double width one)

buy and modify a escort rs turbo exhaust system

plus theres all the little bits and pieces i may of missed

basicly you will need to budget at least £2000 but should see 200bhp on this spec
