when i got my van the interior light was missing, so a bought an escort ghia maplight off ebay for a few quid but it didnt fit, the hole in the roof is very small compared to the ghia map light,

 

so i put in a parts request with fordparts for a van interior light, which they replied with the part number etc

i recieved that today and it is the same size as the maplight and wont fit the original hole for the interior light

 

have they sent me the wrong light?

the maplight is exactly the same size as one sent from fordparts

if your wishing to stay original to the van interior then you'll be wanting one of the earlier models of escort interior light (the mk4 should be right iirc)

 

but if you wish to have the more functional Ghia types then simply cut an appropriate sized hole for it.

just want a light really, reason i got the maplight was cause it was very cheap, thats why i then tried fordparts hoping they would send the correct item

I fitted a maplight to my Van really easy.

 

Just mark out the size hole you need cut very carfully with a stanley knife making sure you cut equally each side to get the Maplight central.

 

The clips on the Maplight will hold it in Place.

I had to bring the Maplight forward slightly of the original Light, so at the moment i have 2 interior lights. The Original light will be removed and the hole covered when the Van interior is re-lined

But as shadow above said you may need an earlier model light to fit the exsisting hole, infact thinking about it you could have mine

as mention earlier the standard interior light will be taken out once the roof lining has been re-newed in black its there at the moment so that there is no gap on show
