Posted June 13, 201014 yr Last Tuesday the other half was really worried about our new baby daughter, then only 17 days old, something wasn't right and she took her to the doctors. They checked a few things and temperature but at no point was so worried that he suggested going to hospital or anything, later that same day i'd got back from work and the other half was frantic with worry so we went to the out of hours doctors nearby and baby had a temperature of nearly 40 degrees and we were sent straight to hospital. After a whole eveing in A&E til gone midnight we were moved to a ward at 1am then moved again at 4am and we've been there ever since. Last 2 days we've been allowed home between her 8am and 4pm antibiotics but we have to stay overnight and for the double dose midnight batch. Really worrying time and it turned out after lots of blood tests and spinal tests that she had VIRAL MENINGITIS in the water round her brain and in her spine. She's doing much better now and were hoping to be allowed to finish the antibiotics and go home for good 2mora at some point after a repeated hearing test and in the next few weeks an ultrasound on her brain. So scary but we're getting through it together with family which have been a great help in looking after our other 2 children and doing things round our house.
June 13, 201014 yr There seems to be so much of that at the moment.. we know 2 kids with it as well. I hope she feels better soon m8! its bloody scary... I remember when my lad got rushed in... for an ear infection! lol
June 13, 201014 yr Scarey times for you mate you must have had a terrifying time. Hope the worst is over and all goes well from here on.
June 13, 201014 yr Bloody hell mate that is scary, All the best to you and your family and wish your little girl a speedy recovery
June 13, 201014 yr flippin' ek! HORRIBLE situation to be in hospital anyway - but then when they pull the bed out 'for mam' it's a kick in the nuts "oh ok i'll just sleep on the radiator will i?" Thankfully i've only been in hospital once with buggerlugs - he had a viral infection which led him to have a temp of 39-40 degrees, which for those that dont know - 40+ is brain damage possibilites. best of British to you and yours but sounds like the worst is over - thank god for the NHS as much as we all complain about it
June 14, 201014 yr Author Many thanks Finally back home after being there most of the day since Tuesday the 8th. Chloe had an unfortunate parting gift of 2 needles, one in each leg at the same time as last night on her last antibiotics the canular (thing in her hand that the antibiotics go into) fell out of the skin preventing the last dose at midnight so this had to be done into the muscle before we left. Great to be home
July 1, 201014 yr Author took our little'un back into hospital yesterday for an mri scan. Because awake she'd be unlikely to stay still for 15 mins we had to give her a bottle and get her to sleep 1st. My other half wanted to go in with her but couldn't because of her piercings! I went in inside and my god that machine is loud! She slept through the whole thing! Apparently adults sleep in it too, something to do with the closeness of the machine and the noise repetition.

Saying that, when I was in, I was the one actually getting scanned so they might just give them to the person going in. They play some shitty music through them aswell
July 1, 201014 yr Author yeah i got some headphones\far defenders, cos she's so little she got a foam ear plug taped over her ear before she was put in place on the head piece of the machine. I just expected it to be a silent process. Whats all that noise about?!
July 1, 201014 yr i had one a while back all i got was foam earplugs. mine was for my back as im always in pain with it...the irony was i couldnt lie still long enough and they kept moaning at me so i told them it was my back that was hurting and all they could do was shrug. hate them things.
