Nice simple one guys.

Looking to upgrade my sounds. Having a cabbie i don't have any space for 6x9s unless i build something custom i assume? So looking at just upgrading the standard door speakers front and rear. What size go straight in and what make would you recommend? Ive been told the little Alpine pods are good.

Cheers, Tom

Alpine 6.5" in the front, through a ford CD6000 i found them more than suitable, especially when teamed with the right 5x7s in the rear (infinitys)

although im not sure what fits in the back of the cabby

What do you want, loudness, quality, compromise of both, sub?

Doing a decent amplified door build in the front is probably your best bet, unless you want to be a mobile disco with the roof down, then just stick speakers everywhere ;)

Both really mate, loud (not excessive) and quality is a must. Can i get that from simply upgrading the door speakers, or i am going to need to some sort of custom build like you've mentioned?

Direct fit into old holes or adaptor needed?

6.5" front door speaker adaptors - ebay clicky

They should come with the wiring adaptor too, so you dont need to be doing any cutting, if you intend to use the original loom that is.

As Stu said, the best setup will come from a pair of amped front component speakers, with some coaxials for rear fill and a sub for the bass. That's what Im aiming towards at the minute with mine.

I wouldn't run any full range speakers in the rear as it'll only screw up the sound stage at the front.

If you want loud and clear, then you need to insulate the doors properly and use proper speaker pods. Depends on how far you want to go and your budget.

Nothing too pricey but nothing cheap and nasty! Happy medium
