friends got a oil leak at back of engine at the top , its 1.1 any one got any ideas what it could be , im thinking rocker cover gasket but what else culd it be ?

Buy a gasket kit on eBay and change the lot...

 

Our 1.2 is still sat on a driveway looking sorry for itself while it waits for us to change the gaskets... spewing oil out of every gasket seal... still runs fine though

well i had a look and it was around the water pump on the block , couldnt see where it was coming from though

So the water pump is at the back of the engine?

 

I might know your problem....

water pump is on the side by timin belt ,

 

rocker cover bolts kill the treads in the head so check that they are tight and ok , common problem,.

hmmm....... thought of torching it?

it probably is the rocker cover gasket my friend had a Fix It Again Tomorrow with and oil leak around that area just needed changing and bobs your uncle fannys your aunt

yeah advised her to clean it right up and id have another look , but whats worrying is she said she has lost about 80% of oil in a week and had the engine squealing the other day just luckly topped it up by a friend bringing oil , that amont of oil wouldnt be lost though the rocket gaket would it ,but the drips she getting on the drive way etc are only patches once in a while, not massive amounts.

i had that problem the other week tiny little specs but they all add up my problem was a loose oil filter check it out dont knwo where it is on a fiat
