my freind has just recently been given a gti mk6 but needs a engine and hes found a cheap low milege 130 ps engine is there issues when fitting this as i no the inlet manifolds are different or is it simple plug and play
if the starter is in the right place then just swap every thing over from one engine to another also is the engine from an escort ? :thumb:

its the 130 ps zetec engine believe its normally found in the convertable mk6s has diffrent in let manifold so wondering if thers any diffrence

cant think of any probs with this just starter but you can get round that too . providing every thing is escort then its a staight swap :thumb:
It is pretty much a plug and play conversion although a few little bits differ ie gear box mounts if you are using the mtx75 box. You just need to swap to mounts over from a 130 ps escort or a turbo diesel escort. The only real problem is it is very difficult to get the 130ps ECU to run on the mk 6 loom but you can get away with running the GTi ECU. I have just done this conversion on my GTi an am currently running the GTi ECU but I am getting a chip done for it so it will run the full power. An even atm running the GTi ECU it has a fair bit more poke than the standard 115ps engine. Although I did rebuild the engine an port the head

The reason I told you to run the GTI ECU is it'd probably end up producing slightly more power than the 130PS one. Chipping the GTI ECU to 130PS spec (good luck getting this done) will most likely result in less power.

Realy? The main reason I was gonna get a chip done was that I have a bit of an odd running issue when the engine is cold. And I assumed it was due to running the wrong ECU for the engine

It could be, it could also be something as simple as a coolant temperature sensor.

I'll try replacing a couple of sensors first an see if that stops me little issue

can you tell me how this would work. as i have all the 130ps stuff on my gti lump including inlet, and im still using gti ecu, would of thought this would be restricting the power???
