PeeWee
No Ross, its 16 for both sexes. Are you 100% tho?reason I say is iv heard this a few times from people that "should" know what they are talking about. I thought it was rediculouse (sp) but there must be a reason they were saying it? No not 100% sure, I was just under the impression that is the written rule. Ohhhhh!!! I hate it when people say things as if its gospel when its purely an impression unfounded and without knowing the truth at all.Society, Underage pregnancy and the law is pretty fucked up, and us discussing it Ain't going to change it. Simples. Nothing we discuss here will change things, but its a very interesting subject and miles better than "******* empty your inbox".

Craig855S
Its 16 for both sexes, and it used to be 18 for gays, i think there was a hoo-ha and that got changed to 16 though...or something As for the benefit thing, dont get me started, can them right now i say The underage parents should have to provide (with the help of THEIR parents) for the kid with no benefits, else the kid goesfor adoption, I think thats fair. YellowWheels
The age of consent in the uk is 16 whether your straight or gay this is fact no matter what your best mates dads sisters dog says. I personally feel that if you have a child and your under age you should'nt get any 'help', benefits or otherwise until you reach the age of 18 when, by that point, either the mother or father should be contributing taxes by way of employment. That would be very bad for the welfare of the child...therefore taking the child away is the ONLY option, unless the 15 year olds mum and dad PROVE that they are providing for their grandkid

It is possible for young people to provide for their offspring especially if they still live with their own parents. I personally was earning money from around the age of 13, granted it wasn't much but it would have been enough to buy nappies, milk and clothes. RobMk6
i agree with most of the above statements to be fair, if the underage parent(s) cannot afford to take appropriate care of the child it should be offered up for adoption without the consent needing to be given..... again if the grandparents can provide then fair enough, this country has a huge debt and, although issues like this are FAR from the cause it IS a contributory towards it. just think it through, its illegal for a 13/14/15 year old child to have a child, yet the government will still hand out benefits to them, its just a complete mess.
