You can do it for less than £5k but it's a lot of work. I think your timescales are unlikely as you'll need a fair chunk of money upfront to get the work done and then you'll play the waiting game.

It may not be my business, but I really do have to question why you'd want to do this? It won't be that fast, you'll get bored with it quickly, and for £5k you can get much better cars. At least if you're going to spend 5k, turbocharge it! It's a similar amount of work!

I know I could get a better car for that sort of money but I do rather like the mk6 escort. And the reason I wanna stay with n/a throttle bodies is the noise. I know it won’t be hugely quick, but if it was a fair bit quicker then I would probably end up going a little too fast a little too often an loosing my licence or ending up in a ditch. Most people don’t really bother doing that much with the mk6 so I wanna be a bit different an have 1 thats fairly quick an looks pretty good too. Plus I can’t get insured on a zetec turbo

There are a few other bits I wanna do with the £5000 as well, I want to do a few bits an bobs to the inerter an I need a new cat back system

i'll get flamed by the 'enthusiasts' for this but:

I agree with Stu, and i've been there done that, which most people who offer advice haven't. I wish i'd never done it, I wished i'd have bought a better car, I wish etc etc etc
