Jordan99940
considering it says its a 1.6 i highly doubt it is a GTi and no they didnt make a GTI without the above spec. get a SI its same performance as a gti just without the Skirts spats half leather interior and higher insurance premiums
Stu
I think you'll find there was a 1.6 GTI, however this particular vehicle left the factory as a 'CL' model. Edited August 13, 2010 by Stu

Strikey
well this 1.6 is a GTI i have just checked via registration plate.
Stu
The 1.6 GTI's were dealer-modified cars, which is why as per my comment above left the factory as a lower model and then the dealer uprated and registered them accordingly.

Craig855S
What do the 1.4 and 1.6 GTIs have over the standard CLs the left the factory with? It doesnt even have the white dials, or even a badge FFS? It SHAMELESS. I'd like to stab the manager of the dealer who thought it was a good idea to do that
HIGHTOWER
have also heard of 1.4 gti's (I think?) Yeah, my mate used to have one! REALLY basic spec! I was never convinced by it, but plain as day on the log book, it said "GTi" When my apprentice wanted to buy it off him, he couldn't insure it by reg as it came up as a GTi!
