Newest escort car i've seen was a 51 plate hatchback in panther black, was the finesse model,

Ive got an X677 AAF, only rust is a bit on the rear arches which I will get fixed by a body work specialist when i fit my skirts and spats.

 

I'm an enthusiast, I genuinly love the shape of the mk6 and think with the right mods its a lovely car and I will maintain it as long as I can, I'm not sure it will ever hold its identity like a VW Van or loads of the old American Muscle cars tend to but ill keep mine going for as long as I can. Dump a new engine in, provided the core chassis doesnt rot I should be ok for a while. I dont like the idea of scrapping it, got to many memories and parts and money in it.

 

I think you have to be an enthsiast to keep a car thats (by todays standards) not that eco and needs new this and that more often than a new car, I do love to drive past all the modern cars on the side of the road broken down with massive electrical fails and such. I often wonder why a brand new BMW is as the side of the road with the AA. It definitly takes enthusiasm to pay 170 for a MK5 rear beam then another 70 to have it shipped to you just so I can upgrade my braking to rs2000 setup!

 

I guess if people want to keep throwing away escorts at least there will always be a supply of cheap parts for us who want the bits that are worth keeping.
