Jordan99940
hey just a quick question what can be expected power from those throttle bodies made up from a GSXR and would the engine loom need to be changed and also what else would need to be done and while im here instead of wasting another thread whats the difference between a normal ECU and a pre PATS one thanks Jordan
Stu
Standard zetec head will typically flow around 170bhp max at atmospheric.. most throttle bodies are large enough to enable that flow. Installing them requires a lot of work, have a search around, it's been covered before for sure. ECU's - they're all 'normal'. PATS can either be inside the ecu or outside (in a seperate box). Jordan99940
is there any advantage of having one of these? (pre-PATS)

Stu
Specific external PATS ECU's are commonly used for 2 litre conversions.
Jordan99940
do they only come as 2.0 ecu? and while your here stu might as well chuck this one in. i hear alot about this megasquirt business what do they do ? you must bloody hate me
Stu
All early ECU's were external PATS. MegaSquirt is an aftermarket ECU.
Jordan99940
is it true i hear you buy one of them and you can change this your self or do you have to get some one else to do this for you i.e. your self. and how much do these cost. has any one ever told you how helpful you are patience of a Saint. Stu
Yes, it's a fully tuneable aftermarket ECU. You can tune it yourself but the success of this depends on your knowledge and ability to tune engines. It's not Need For Speed Underground. Paying someone to do it for you can vary, anything from £200-500+, which also depends if you need them to install it too. There's very little to gain on a standard engine, but with throttle bodies you'd be looking at around 160bhp with a decent exhaust system.
