rs2000 engine

i have a r plate 1.6 16v escort. it has pats in ecu so ive been told that if i get a rs2000 thats a p or r reg then its basically plug and play to swop engine into my escort. is this true? if not that what is needed from the rs2000 to do the transplant? also well im here will the mtx75 gearbox fit without any problems? its currently an ib5 gearbox cheers

Honestly, with the prices RS2000s are going for these days, just sell your car and buy one. It's much easier and will have a better resale value.

 

Short of that, if you really want to do it, you're best trying to find a complete car with rot issues and then swapping it all over.

 

You can fit the RS engine to a normal gearbox, but the ratios probably wouldn't be as good as they are in the RS so it wouldn't feel so lively. But, to do it properly, you need the engine, wiring loom, ECU, gearbox, clutch, flywheel, subframe, drive shafts, basically everything!

basically ive thought about this an i really need back doors for kids etc makes my life so much easier. i cnt afford a mint rs2000 an my escort is in really gd condition anyway an for work purposes an rs2000 would be 2 gd to damage well loading stuff in bk etc so im going to look about for a cheapish mk6 rs2000

 

what about the loom been plug an play under bonnet? an will i need to use key for immobilizer etc? cheers
