Strikey
Split the front and rear of the dials (undo the bulbs at the top) then its 2 clips at the top and two at the bottom. Remove all the dials separately (torx again), on the back of the speedo are wee torx bits that hold the miles barrel in place, just undo these and swap them round HTH Switch it on before you put the dash back together or even reconnect the speedo cable, as with yours being a 1.4 theres a good chance you'll have to wire it in, but its one wire from the ecu to the dials and its easy to do yes i have got my dials through and i tried it out everything else works except the revs any chance of a guide of the wire where abouts in the ecu it needs to be ran from and where abouts on the dash it needs to be wired to here is my dashboard black one is my old one and white one is my new one http://strikeys-pic.com/images.php/i70_IMG0377.JPG Edited September 7, 2010 by Strikey
Scort_CVH
I'll need to double check the pins mate as it was last year I did it. Right you need to get another blue/white plug from a scrappy with some loom, open up the back of the plug (wee prise with a scewdriver) Now you need to remove one of the wires complete with the gold (i think) terminal. (this means you will have a neater installation that will allow you to remove and refit your dials easily ) Now take the wire and terminal and open up your plug, push the terminal into your plug. Right now solder/crimp a longish piece of wire to the wire you've added to your plug and cover in insulation tape. Now you need to route the wire (passenger footwell), the easiest way to do this is to remove the radio and run the wire behind the dashboard and above the radio. and just below the glovebox. Cable tie to wires/brackets to make it neat and tidy. Now in your passenger footwell, you will see a plastic kick panel towards the back on the left hand side just after the door. Remove this and you will see the ecu, the ecu needs the cage removed to gain access (rivet) so you'll need to drill out the rivet and remove the cage. Look at the plug on the ecu and find numer (WILL CHECK) on mine there was a wire coming out of this IIRC it was black and white. I spliced into the wire and soldered on the wire i was adding and again wrapped in insulation tape. now plug in your dials and we should have a working rev counter :) now build it back up. Sorry no pics of when i did mine, I hope that all makes sence. I will search for the correct number and plug colour (you'll be able to tell this by looking at the back of your dials to see which ones behind the rev counter) for the dials and the correct number for the ecu, unless someone can remember?? Scort_CVH
Found one of my old posts "Passenger footwell, remove plastic cover. you will see a metal cage that is held on my a rivet - this needs to be drilled out then with some persuation the cover can be removed. You then need to find the white and black wire coming from pin 4. You then need to add a wire onto this one with your perfered method - scotch lock, solder, crimp etc. Run the wire behind the passenger footwell carpet to the centre of the dashboard, remove your radio and take the wire up to the clocks, then you need a pin from a blue or white plug at a scrappy to add into your blue connector block at pin 8. you then join your length of wire to this pin and test the clocks before rebuilding. And thats the only way to do it, it will take around an hour at most, provided you managed to remember to charge the drill nutter_wall.giflol Thats how I did it anyway Cheers Alex "
