and also currently Sky, BT, Virginmedia, 02, Talktalk, and Orange ALL monitor your downloads.

I dont see the issue with this that really gets on peoples nerves

granted it seems a minor invasion of privacy but unless your downloading kiddie porn its hardly an issue that requires uproar.

I use Sky for my entire package, 25mg broadband (limited speed atm as I mentioned) with a unlimited download cap (which I taken advantage of on many a occasion), phone & TV and barring the limited speed atn which will be rectified at the end of this year Ive never had reason to complain, they even tried to get me to take a cheaper broadband package with a discount when they realised I wouldnt get top speed for a while.

Keep an eye on this site: http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/LVRNE

Your 21CN RFS date is March next year.

aye the letter from Sky told us it'd be late 2010 -early 2011 for are area upgrade.

The only downside is that they have now merged the modem and router together into a crappy hub for new customers.

Is the hub crap? Because I hate my netgear wireless router than I've got to use with the virgin mode, (virgin supplied router and modem) too many plugs and the router often needs rebooting.

I'm a big fan of Virgin, Nearly switched to sky last week until I actually checked the paperwork for both companies and found that although I was getting a couple more channels and saving a quid, I was losing out massively on the BB (limited usage, and copper cables so wont be as "20 meg" and virgins 20 meg is) so I told em to get lost.

Ok... update.

Looked more closely at the wiring from the telegraph pole this evening... There is two wires going to next door. One of which travels along their wall to our new house then around the windows to the front door frame.

From the front door frame it's lost... there is no BT telephone point in the house.

Also, the wiring from the cable nextdoor looks very, very old.

There is a telephone line and a coax coming off the NTL/cable box outside the house also going to the boxes pictured above.

So I'm lost now... I don't know if I need BT to come out to sort it or if I just need to rip the door frame to bits and DIY a BT point somewhere... :(

even if you have a older BT install buried somewhere chances are BT will wish to scratch tit and start afresh with a new installation anyway, they dont like using old installs and other companies equipment with a new contract.

The reason I left BT whern moving down here is that they wanted to charge me 129.99 to activate the line in this house. So i left and went to virgin.

Smithy, I'd either go with virgin (which i'd do) or phone BT and get them to get you set up right now before the offer ends. If they say you need an installation done then you need it done.
