EscortNreg
Little bit of a happy update on this... I went down to take the courtesy car back and the lady I a,ways talk to on the servicing dept let me off the courtesy car admin fee and let me off the inspection fee saving me £70! bless her. I thought while I was there I would nip in and see the manager man,I explained to him it's an ongoing problem since I got the car and the wiring must have been over looked etc etc. He said to me if I can prove the idling problem is an ongoing and unresolved issue they have to repair it. So I went out and started the car, and the idling was worse than ever (even worse than when I took the car in) so I went back in and grabbed him and showed him the problem has not been resolved and he can see from the system that it's an ongoing problem. He is giving me a call Monday to discuss it further but he seems to think the ongoing issue should be resolved at there cost. Please keep your fingers crossed for me! Lol Thanks for getting that number ian, the one I had was 0845 and ended in 1111.

Saying that... It is just pull and push plugs...
shawdreamer
what would I do? I can tell you what I DID do! I binned off buying new motors and reverted back to older motors amongst my most memorable new motor letdowns.... Mk1.5 Focus: Engine management light came on repeatedly despite half a dozen trips to fords local garage for diagnostics and "attempted" repairs which I suspect was them simply resetting the management light, turned out the engine was overfueling which eventually started causing a misfire which ford then repaired under warranty, two weeks later the car suddenly refused to rev beyond 3k while I was trying to get to me first day in a new job and that turned out to be a fecked CAT caused by the previous overfueling - needed multiple diagnostics, constant trips to ford, new Cat. Mk1.5 Focus ST: Developed a sudden electrical issue and turned every dash light on while lowering the windows in the middle of a rain storm while popping nearly all its fuses and relays - needed entire new cab & dash loom, dash fuse box with a partial engine bay loom. New shape Astra Sport: Electrical faults all over the dash which resulted in them replacing the entire dash with a slightly different modified to fit Vectra Dash, trip computer barely ever worked along with multiple sensors constantly failing all over the chassis - I gave up keeping track of the issues and was just thankful it was still under warranty. and Now.... Ford Ecsort Mk5/Mk5b/Mk6: Somthing breaks - I fix it

Took me 5 times. Hours of Operation:Monday - Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM local time Ok, so I have contacted them... They said there was nothing to do... But thanks for the loyalty! Lol I got off the phone, bit down In the dumps and wondering what the hell I'm gonna do... Then my phone rings, it's Jason, the second hand cars sales manager.. There is niching he can do, the car is out of warranty and that's that! BUT he has spoken to the company director on my behalf, he fully understands the situation and as a gesture of good will he will split the bill with me 50/50 So, I can get the wiring loom replaced for £170, but apparantly the master cylinder on my clutch is on it's way out so they will do the whole lot for £300!!! So, do I get the wiring done and worry about the clutch later, or get it all done, let's face it, I'm never going to get a genuine ford clutch fitted by ford for £130 again am I... Hmmmm... Can I afford it... What you reckon? Beg borrow and steal to get it all done? (before the high almighty jump on there horses, I wouldn't actually steal!) EscortNreg
fix it and get shut of it. That's what I'm thinking, but there is still money owed on the car... So I could either sell it, pay it off then get a car with what's left over or... Get one of them pay monthly warenties from the AA.
eetaylog
Use the money that is coming through from your settlement that has been promised to you since about 1973. Or sell the cabby that you were supposedly going to buy?
Craig855S
This is the problem with new cars that depreciate as fast as/faster than the finance payments. If you fix it and sell it on you wont see much money but at least you can return to the world of nice simple cars!! As for the clutch master/slave cylinder...That's up to you, it may genuinely be about to fail, or it may have thousands of miles left. You're not getting a new clutch though, just the cylinder..which is a small hydraulic component. Whatever happened to the "ongoing problem" claim? I think that's part ofbthe reason they have done it, I can't proove it is and they can't proove it isn't part of it... But Irish if you ask me... damien666
I can't understand why people go to dealers to get work done. The prices they charge are extortionate and half the time they haven't a clue. I fix everything myself and anytime I'm stuck, the informations all out there on the internet. EscortNreg
Ok happy as Larry now... Just called the AA to come give us a tow to the garage... He had to have a look at it, saw the part straight away and repaired it! Lol The cable has corroded out off the plug, so he filled it with solder and soldered a new piece of cable I. It, then crumbled it onto the existing cable... Job done! He says for a more permanent repair just go to a scrappy and get a plug for a few quid and just crimp it together... So, needless to say, I have cancelled the garage for tomorrow and saved myself £175! Winner!
Craig855S
Why didnt any of us think to just suggest getting that cable from a scrap car. Get yourself on ebay and find someone breaking a mk2 focus for spares. But remember, if water got to the first cable and corroded it it may get in there again unless you find how the water is getting in
