one of the nicer OAPs cars  :innocent:

Nice car, I was thinking of these...

When I retire :innocent:

Maybe you should try one before you talk bad about them, There is no area where the Escort, or even the Mk3 mondeo, will beat this car. (OK the mondie is cheaper than the volvo to tax, but the volvo is cheaper than 1.6/1.8 escorts)

Dont take it personal mate, beat my escort all you want. its still an old mans car :thumb:

Aaron the tax on the S60 is £99 for 6 months or £180 for 12, which is cheaper than the high band on the old system (engines bigger than 1.5L pay 112 for 6 months and 205 for 12)

As for size doing this road trip to my parents has revealed that the boot opening is quite an issue (almost failed to fit the babys new travel system in there, but now we have the knack)

If you need the space an S80 may be better, they are bigger, but im not sure where, they look like its just the b pillar back thats longer (so more rear legroom and a longer boot)

The V70 is the most capable of the 3 though, but the S60 does me, JUST.. If I'd have attempted this journey in the 306 we'd be royally fucked

  • 4 months later...

Rear side windows tinted.

Front tyres are wearing out and im thinking of replacing all 4 wheels with some nicer alloys from a breaker (hopefuly some "R" pegasus or volan wheels)

Also the intercooler is looking really bulged, so an aftermarket one may be purchased any day (probably will wait for it to go pop)

I hate side window tints, think they look bloody stupid now, as you can't tint the fronts. Would have left it standard, looks odd with just the rears done.

Wheels would be a good change for it, some 18" Pegs would suit it well, and a bit of R-related body styling always helps. Nice car for the money you paid for it though, I wouldn't mind a D5 Volvo for an every day car at some stage, good mile munchers, very comfortable.

My 850 was still the best car I've owned all round, very comfortable. I like the stigma to be honest. People on here may laugh, but I doubt many of them could trouble E46 M3s and Boxster's like I could

The tints sort of suit it, sort of look out of place... It's hard to describe, but hey, it's your car... Why should we be telling you what to do?

...needs a clean! :pancake:

Can't help imagining that with a subtle drop to give a more sporty stance... not -40mm or anything daft... -10mm max just enough to give it a more aggressive look without ruining the handling and comfort.

I wouldn't turn a nice Volvo down. I'd just be too tempted to wear a hi-vis vest over a white shirt with a walkie talkie attached and laugh as people rubbish themselves.

Especially a white or black one.

Have to admit, I had a chance to spend about a week tootling around northern ireland in an 07 plate v50 the other week, not what Id call sporty but they are very comfortable.

Actually cleaned it the day before the tinting..Just didnt dry it and didnt bother too much with the wheels (a pain to keep clean, and rusty and kerbed to Fcuk anyway)

As for the rear glass, I think im gonna try tinting that over the next few weeks.

The wheels I want, I'm hunting everywhere for a set, hopefully have some in a few days, If I cant get these ill setttle for Titan alloys (very similar just 1" smaller) or Volans which look like this..
