JC
Gutted for you mate, bet it looks worse than it is, I think you could repair it yourself?
PeeWee
Im so gutted for you. Unfortunatly I am going to say what you dont want to hear, yes you were too close. This isn't because I'm being an arse, its because I did just the same in my red mk5b a few years back. Had you been the correct distance you would of stopped in time so either your reactions were a bit slow or you were too close but its not the fact that your escort couldnt stop in time. Even if the BMW stopped on a pin, if you were the correct distance you could of stopped. Sorry about the car and really hope your ok. Your insurance will see it the same way too seeing as you were behind.Like you say I wasn't there, but no one needs to be there to understand, like I said, I did just that. caled
Ouch bloody hell - sorry to see this mate. You ok? Really bad luck, but as horrible as it sounds, I was relieved when I read it was the mk6. Gutted for you either way though.
massivewangers
Not good mate As PeeWee says, sadly, it is all down to you for not leaving enough space, but obviously that doesn't help with the annoyance! Time to pick up another one!
bronze4door
i am ok just a bit gutted as i love the car it does look bad from what i can see the slam panel is damaged the chassis leg on the passengers side has some damage too, the wing on the drivers side is ok but the edge on the passengers side has a bit of a bend at the bottom where it meets the bumper and then on the tops where the slam panel is spot welded i want to fix it up and will do as much work as i can myself to it, maybe its the kick up the arse i needed to get a bit of bodywork sorted out on it i have spare headlights and a grill and i know a man who is a genius with metal work, there is a black one in the local scrap yard so might pop down to have a look what the front end is like in the meantime there are a couple of gti's on the autotrader i am going to try and get a look at as i need another car peewee maybe your right you always see sence in these situations but maybe it was just a glance in the mirror at tha wrong time or anything but it all happend so quick
PeeWee
Yeah I was similar at the time and thought I was at a good distance. My common sense soon made me realise either I wasn't far enough or as you say a quick glance. It all happened so quick but I had no one to blame really as one way or another I knew it was my fault. Main thing was that no one was hurt except my pride and my poor car that was one week away from fitp.

escortjas
At least you're ok and it was'nt the Mk1, i got that ominous feeling when i saw your name as the topic starter.
sidrick
Really sorry for you. Are you sure it's worth saving? After all, it is a 14 year old escort (ooooh errr) as you say. I thought it looked a certain write off in the pics.
massivewangers
I think I'm possibly with Sidrick here. Although it most likely has a lot of value to you, there would be a lot of work in fixing it, and I'd be concerned if the chassis leg has taken a hit. You might just be better off finding another three door shell and taking the best bits off this one. Obviously it's not good to lose your car if you love it, but I'd always be worried that it wasn't quite right if you've had to do major repairs! smithyandco
Shame to see another one go... You could use it as a fixer-uper for a track day car!
