rodssescort
after having a rubbish day at work.. this realy wasnt needed!! Put a set of my spare rs2000 wheels on today as ive sold my others... had michelins on the front and near new budgets on the back.. Travelling to sheffield.. i go round a roundabout and the back end just spins round like it was on skates.. straight up the curb and into a ditch.. Bloody fantastic.. the car behind didnt even have to courtesy to stop and check i was ok!! No pictures at the mo but will get some in the morning when i inspect the damage! Looking like a new skirt, maybe rear bumper and spats.. possible bent beams and 1 very much knackered rs2000 alloy My advise is to never ever buy budgets.. ive had more grip out of bold michelins than these stupid budget
stevmo3691
now you know why they are reffered to as ditch finders on a serious note, glad your ok and car can be fixed at least, just a pain in the ass.if at any point you happen to end up with budget tyres even temporarily, have them on the front as you have more sense in what they are or are not doing and they'll get slightly more grip given that the front wheels have more weight on them. LiamGTR
Aren't "ditch finders" those nankan wheels ? Not just any old budgets
ganges
gutted for you mate, having just written my scort off, know how you feel, but glad you are ok
caled
Good thing you're alright, mate, easier to replace a skirt than your leg so it could've been worse. I always thought budget tyres were all ditch finders, for the most part? All the cosworths on that rally day I did were on cheapo tyres on a wet/oiled track. That was fun hehe. rodssescort
very true! had it up on the ramp today and my rear beams like a banana! spose it means i can put the big discs on a beam nd poly bush it while im there!! But for the time being cars off the road to sort everything out.. got the 2ltr to lump aswell to keep me busy!

scottg17
Awaits the keyboard warriors to come in and start lecturing you I consider myself as a pretty canny driver, I have had my old escort step out once on a roundabout, luckily nothing came of it (was about 2am)I think i hit diesel, was a bit wet as well but all the same im gutted for you mate
Craig855S
Aren't "ditch finders" those nankan wheels ? Not just any old budgets I refer to most budget brands as ditchfinders, I dont think it is reserved for one particular make. Ling long ditchfinders is a common phrase uttered when someone asks "what cheap tyres can i buy" but by mno means are they a recomendation
JC
Gutted for you mate, i'd never touch a budget tyre, and replace when worn! Hope you and the car are ok
rodssescort
yea im quite surprised ive had no 'its your driving that caused it' , it was soaking wet and a bit muddy on the road.. but ive never had a go swish round as fast as that even on like slcik tyres in the wet :/ but never mind... its happend now.. and as a results its on the drive in bits awaiting me to build up the 2ltr engine and get it in!! looking forward to it after! smithyandco
I used to have the decent front tyres/ditch finders on the rear combo... It was great fun on a particular round-about in Runcorn... Sorry to hear that you lost it though... just remember that Escorts weight nothing at the back so put grippy tyres on the back or a dead body in the boot (preferably a fat bloke/bird)
