sorry if im posting in the wrong section everyone, i done a quick search but could'nt find anything.

i was jacking my car up today 98 escort 1.6 & after lowering it back to the ground i realised that the jacking point has bent upwards towards the side skirt if that makes sense. i dont think theres any holes or anything so it should'nt be an mot fail but id rather get it sorted 2 save more hassle. how much would i be looking at to have it done & also will i need the whole sill to be replaced or can the jacking point be cut & a new part welded? thanks in advance

common occurance really, happens all then time when the sill lip isnt positioned correctly inside the recess on the top of the ford jack (Im assuming thats what you were using)

Its not fatal, just makes the use of the ford jack ill advisable in future as it will no longer seat correctly (which tbh isnt advisable anyway as there shite, thats from experience of one collapsing with me under the car)

If your still concerned you can slap a load of underseal over it to reassure yourself of its seal.

Yeah, i'd underseal it and then buy a trolley jack, easier and quicker to use. As i've always been on the understanding that the ones provided were only for emergency use @ the roadside.

more like "cause a emergency @ the roadside" when you take your flat tyre off and it promptly collapses the car to the deck.
