bongo
just found this and to me it looks a decent conversion with quite a bit spent on it. no pic sorry it says image not available. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ford-mondeo-st24-tur...=item2c59093bdc
Stu
That's worth all of £2k with the bits on it.
SLEEMAN
a single turbo on a v6? does it only run from one bank? would that run right stu?
Stu
I would expect its running from both banks.. otherwise would be silly.
caled
Looks like its running the turbo prior to the inlet manifolds branching off from one another. Looks like a sensible way of doing it to me - a twin turbo set up would require completely reworked inlet manifolds for the front and rear banks. Stu
caled, the bank discussion was regarding the exhaust manifolds not inlet.
caled
Oh, I see lol. Apologies. Actually, Id be quite interested to see what the underneath of all that lot looks like - the pipework under there must be quite immense...
SLEEMAN
i can only roughly see one exhaust pipe leading to the turbo and thats coming from the front bank can't really see anything from the rear bank mind unless its hidden?
caled
the front and rear banks exhaust manifolds have a Y piece just behind the engine, next to the sump and before the cat. If it is running from both banks (i assume it would be...?) then it would either need to double this pipework back and up to the turbo, or have a pair of exhaust manifolds custom made. Either of these is possible given that theyve spent the money to turbo charge it in the first place. I would have thought the latter option would be the better, but Stu could probably shed more light on that. As an aside though, as its the exhaust manifold you were refering to and not, like I thought, the inlet manifolds - then why not just run it off the front bank exhaust? would simplify the pipework but would reduce exhaust gas flow through the turbo (assumingly by half)? ryan_gwa
The two banks have to meet at some point at the downpipe, probably where the turbo is situated. Much like a Subaru engine.
Craig855S
It does look like the turbo is only using the front manifold... How odd, 1.25L of 3 cylinder engine trying to spin up a compressor that is feeding the full 2.5 V6..That'll work well
Stu
You're starting to sound stupid now.
ScORTED
starting... looks like someone spent some proper money, then its been unloved round the back of a pub on a council estate.
