rs turbo gearbox

will a rs turbo gearbox fit a 2.0ltr zetec lump with the crank pos sensor on the front ? if so do i need the rs turbo fly wheel ? or what fly wheel and clutch do i use? also what about the starter motor ? thanks

you can use the rs turbo gearbox on the 2.0 engine. have you got the original 2.0 flywheel on the engine if so yeah you need to change it to a 1.8 or 1.6 zetec one. unsure about the turbo flywheel. clutch has to be a 220mm clutch as for the starter motor where can it slot into the gearbox?

ok so what 220mm clutch is it that i need or will i need a mix of clutches i.e rs turbo clutch plate and 1.8 zetec pressure plate ? and will the normal zetec starter motor slot in the rs box ok ?

Weren't the mounts an issue on a gearbox with a zetec engine? i'm sure there was sumthing that wasn't right, but not sure?

2.0 ltr turbo. but wont a box and clutch thats more than up to the job i currently have a ib5 and standard 1.6 clutch on a standard 2.0ltr and clutch is struggling to hold the standard power plus the s2 rst box has lsd doesn't it ?

the ib5 is stronger than the old rst box... they use ib5 bearings and seals as an upgrade.. you can fit the lsd to an ib5 if you want a stringer box use an mtx

 

jc - the s2 rst box won't mount in a mk5/6 the s1 casing will, however those boxes are now 25 years old

ib 5 is just a 1./1.8 escort box rite ? im not to clued up on these as ive not long got into the ford scene if this is not the case what were the ib5 boxes found in ? and i own a mk3 fezzy is the fezzy rsturbo box no good ? cheers for advice so far

the frst box is the same as the xr2i/1.3/1.1 etc no lsd just uprated bearing and different ratios. the ib5 is found in mk5/5b/6 escorts and various other cars... however the mk3 / mk3.5 fiesta uses the same cradle mounted box as the mk4 escort so a s2 rst gearbox will go straight in... didn't realise this was a fiesta based question

rite so s2 rst gearbox will mate straight to the 2.0ltr zetec with cranksensor on the front of the block ? and will also drop straight in my mk3 fezzy yes ? so what flywheel clutch and starter will i need? and will i have problems as the rst has start on the front dont it?

I think there was some confusion that you were asking about gearbox fitment on Fiestas on an Escort website without mentioning the Fiesta!!

well ive got the mounting side of it sorted now. all i wont to no is what clutch and fly wheel i need and the starter motor situation im shore someone on here must have fitted a rst box to a zetec befor?

you need a 220mm flywheel, either a 90spec erst / xr3i with cps pickup holes or a escort / fiesta zetec 220mm fly wheel and you'll want a 220mm rst clutch kit, if your going turbo probably a heavily uprated one
