rodssescort
hello.. im currently putting a 2ltr in my x reg 1.6.. i know many people use the 2ltr ecu's with pre pats.. is it possible to use one with pre pats? Has anyone done this before?? i work at a ford dealer so would be able to get my keys reprogrammed to the ecu no problem.. will there be much wiring involved?? As much info would be very greatful! thanks in advance!

ScORTED
http://www.escortevolution.co.uk/forums/in...=108274&hl= if your in a position to get the ecu coded then you should be able to keep the pats, get the pin output diag for your car and the mondeo ecu and see what pins need swapping about. then get the ecu coded to your keys, job jobbed
rodssescort
Sure you mean pre pats? sorry, yea im looking to use a PATs ecu? have you done anything / had much to do with this stu? http://www.escortevolution.co.uk/forums/in...=108274&hl= if your in a position to get the ecu coded then you should be able to keep the pats, get the pin output diag for your car and the mondeo ecu and see what pins need swapping about. then get the ecu coded to your keys, job jobbed cheers for that, so i could most likely use any mk2 mondeo ecu? If i get the wiring diagrams and trace each wire to the new places.. this shud run? Is there any one thats done this before?
Stu
You need the Mondeo PATS transceiver and wiring too.
rodssescort
You need the Mondeo PATS transceiver and wiring too. Will it not work with just the escort wiring and transeiver?
Stu
Perhaps you didn't understand what I said!
rodssescort
no i didnt, thats why i asked.. think ill just have to hunt down a earlier mondeo ecu like every one else has.. seems more hassel than its worth
Stu
It's arguably similar effort.
rodssescort
hmm, would it be easier to use a aftermarket ecu? im planning on getting throttle bodies eventually.. is it possible to just get a 2ltr map on the aftermarket ecu? and any recomendations? Stu
Easier? No. Worth it, based on your plans? Possibly, if you can find someone to map it. I wouldn't assume an aftermarket base map for a zetec to be truly driveable, even though internet experts may argue.
rodssescort
i understand a base map wouldnt be truly drivable.. is it possible to get it mapped to perfrom exactly as it shud in standard engine form? an then later mapped for the throttles bodies? ScORTED
yes if you buy decent management and don't mind shelling out twice for mapping
