Hi all,

This is one of my first posts on Escort Evolution but I don't know who to ask so im hoping you guys can help. I want to replace the stereo to a USB/Bluetooth kinda thing in my Escort Ghia X but i want to keep the compatibility with the CD changer. I just wondered if any of you guys knew of any stereo's that would be compatible.

Cheers

Dan

is the change of stereo required? (are yo wanting a new stereo)

or are you just after the added functions?

If its just the added functions see my SUYM threads last post, works spot on.

failing that Id choose an Alpine over any other brand available all day long as they dont suffer as much as other with disc jump and create a sound that rivals any Ive used.

Yeah ideally i want a new stereo, something a bit more modern. My current stereo has the fake wood surround on it which i dont like (Im going to paint all the fake wood on the dashboard and gear surround when i get chance to remove them) so I figure that i may as well get rid of it and get a new stereo, but the car has a built in CD changer under the passenger seat that id like to use so id like to get a compatible head unit so i can use the CD changer too.

Iirc you can find a cd changer adapter loom for pretty much any stereo on somewhere like ebay, these allow a branded stereo that has changer compatiblity to run a ford changer.

that pretty much leaves you open to buy whichever stereo catches your eye.

but

If you wish to simply bring your stereos appearance up to date then why not consider the more modern CD6000 range you can find in more modern fords, least that way you have a simple straight swap without the concerns of compatability and the stereo still looks like it belongs there.

i'm with shawdreamer on that one, those new ford standard stereo's that are multidisc look like they would be a good stereo to have. unless you wish to have the whole amp and sub setup then i would say a complete change is in order. you can get the adaptor leads off ebay for the changer and if you have the steering audio control they sell the leads on ebay so that you can still use that too :thumb:

Ford CD6000 in silver (from a puma i think, or the older fiesta ZSs)

Looks the part and sounds better (even through aftermarket speakers) than a 4x45 Alpine 9803. Fact! And looks proper OEM

Unless you plan on using very high end stuff then you cant beat the CD6000

i tried all models of the ford 6000 in our focus apart from the newer 6000e and they were alright but when i changed it for a jvc headunit they were worlds apart. i think if you intend to leave the standard speakers in then stick with oem stereo but if you want some 6x9's and amp etc then hit the shops and find a nice powerful headunit
