Craig855S
Whilt browsing GTP (gran turismo forum) of all places they have a photomode topic entitled "GotSTANCE?" What this topic is about is pictures of cars taken in GT5s photomode of cars with aftermarket wheels (BBS aplenty) and differing geometry setups to give the car "Stance" Some pics are great, making the car look good (but maybe handling terribly) and some pics are shite, with cars having 8 degrees of negative camber and lowered to the ground...This makes the car look like a broken car, not a piece of art. This led me to google "stance" and there are forums for car enthusiasts who do this to their real cars. rubbish like this!!! http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2760/4065832984_13507b931d_b.jpg I mean, WTF!! Apparently, "Stance" is meant to be achieved when the lines of the car are complimented by the lines of the wheel. Which to me would mean spacing the wheels to the edge of the tyre is bang on level with the widest part of the car, and maybe camber the wheels a tad to follow the side of the car down. With this being a sensible interpretation (GT5 pic) http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g441/pcl_personal/GT5%20photos/Kyoto-Gion_3.jpg And a stupid interpretation from GT5 http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/2993/gionquioto.jpg It's also known as hyperflush or some arse... Anyone fancy doing it to their cars?I know I fooking dont

massivewangers
It seems to come up a lot on the Civic forums I'm on as some of them are in to it. Think it looks ridiculous myself.
Slik Johnson
It is from the VIP look. Its to make it look like the car has hydrolics in turn making you 'look cool' when i fact you look like a complete dick. My best mate has been with the Honda lot for a very long time and has such a beautiful car. He spend ALOT of time looking after it as well as ALOT of money spent on it. He has gone through the trouble of affording and fitting hydrolics and has the car sitting on the floor, which in turn gives him this so called 'stance'. Heres a link to a video of one of his shows You all like Fords but you have to admit, this aint no chav in a shitty civic. Him and his HondaCulture crew do it properly
caled
While I admire the time and expense put in to getting those hydraulics into the Honda, it still looks cack. Do some people actually drive the cars like that? The contact area of the tyre must be what, 1/2 the original area?
massivewangers
That looks like a basically standard Honda Accord with some expensive wheels and silly suspension. It's not like it's some amazing show car or anything, just has an expensive suspension system on it that probably ruins the handling. I've only been on the Honda scene a month or so with my Civic and there are some amazing cars out there, but that isn't one of them. Whatever turns you on and all that but, much like the VAG scene, the Honda community have some great cars to play with, with decent chassis' and good engines, so a really good basis for creating something awesome, yet instead, they ruin them with stupid camber and ridiculously low suspension just to be part of some silly "scene". You will always have to accept some level of compromise when modifying a car, but I really can't understand why you would totally ruin the way a car drives, or make it so it can't go over bumps, just for the sake of fashion. A car is for driving.
ryan_gwa
I wouldnt say 'Stance' is a latest craze. Just look at pretty much any German (Golfs, Campers, BMW's etc) and you can see its been done for year, what with the 'Euro' look and similar. A car is for driving.Nah he doesnt drive with it that low lol. The hanlding is actually pretty good lol. To be honest Im not the biggest fan of flashy cars buy some I do take a liking to. As for it being a standard Accord with expensive wheels ect... well not excatly. He spent alot of money and time on the interior as well as the exterior. Remember we dont know much about Hondas like they dont know about Fords so when you look at the Accord you see a standard one with silly suspention and expensive wheels, they probably look at GTIs, including mine, and say its a standard Escort with lowerd suspention and alloyed wheels lol. Remeber, it depends on what you know. Just have a second look at the accord. There are subtle changes to it that make it stand out. Just like we do to our cars. The difference is, we like more performance and they prefer looking flash lol
Craig855S
The difference is, we like more performance and they prefer looking flash lol Hahahahaa!! a.) they have better performance as standard than 99% of escorts on evob.) Fitting an induction kit and cat back is not a performance increase lol.. A 2.0 engine swap is, but even then... A 160BHP 1.6 civic will probably own it

I would say that the majority of Ford forums have a lot more performance cars, or highly modified ones. I think every Ford forum I'm on has some properly quick cars on, and people building some pretty mental stuff. This forum is completely A-typical to the rest of the Ford world that I'm associated with!
