Recommended Posts

need to get new shoes for the handbrake on my escort with rear beam set up from a mk6 2wd rs2k.

anyone know if these are a correct part no. 6749045 /6500946, only 40 notes posted on ebay.

any help would be welcomed.

I would try Unipart or another motor factor first, if your unsure.

I looked into the purchase of new shoes for an rs2000 4x4 not long ago and found they were only available from Ford at about £144 + vat.

I approached a few local re-lining firms and they quoted £8 to £15 per shoe. They appear to be unique as they are only 25mm wide.

Try re-liners locally for prices is the economic option!!!

I bought some of these years ago for the Orion.

Apparently no reproductions were ever made and they are only available from Ford as part of a kit at about £100

ford want £155 for them, £115 with my discount, still a bit steep if you ask me.

Get some good second-hand ones (wanted section), do you definately need to replace them?

yes,one side has about a quarter of the friction material missing, so deffo need them replaced.

i can get them relined for £40 at a nearby relining centre. which is not too bad, but will defo add a wanted topic there(totally forgot about doing that)
