Markc
Hello peeps i have 2000 1.6 mk6 Escort finesse for my daily driver but have a question i need answering.short run (15 mins) or long run (an hour), park up turn her off and check the temp in the coolant header tank and its stone cold. use it everyday and water pump and coolant is roughly 20k old, no water patches anywhere and coolent level still on max. to add to above, water temp on the dash is on half and never goes past that so its not over heating and engine runs fine from what i can see as well. internal heaters are fine as well. Craig855S
How are you checking the temp of the "coolant in the header tank"? Just feeling the plastic? Try touching the rad top hose, is that hot? Also, with the engine running, and warm, look at the top of the coolant bottle where a small bore hose goes in, push the throttle open by hand (throttle body linkage) and see if you see water flowing out of this small hose into the bottle

caled
Does the car overheat if left to idle without going anywhere? Do the fans come on?

caled
Ok, so (i) the car doesn't overheat(ii) the coolant is flowing into the expansion tank(iii) the fans all work(iv) there is no sign of any leaks (either puddles or a drop in coolant level) Doesn't sound like you have an issue? Markc
thanks, it was more of a question sto see if the water in the bottle should be hot/warm rather than stone cold as it just seems a little odd to me. could anyone possibly check their escort please?
