fair, if I had known there was sandy bridge around the corner I wouldn't have jumped onto the 1366 i7, that said though

I don't think I'll be spending big money for a couple of year again though, nice tidy build :)

Something else to compare your workstation to:

http://www.evo-host.co.uk/getimg/26089.jpg

Specs:

* Intel i5 750 @ 2.66GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.33GHz

* MSI H55-GD65 Motherboard

* 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 (9-9-9-24)

* NVIDIA Geforce 470 GTX 1280MB (Matrox Triplehead2Go Digital @ 5040x1050 - 3x 22" @ 1680x1050)

* Seagate 1TB Traditional HDD

CPU sat at 22c at the moment... Runs at 1.2GHz when CPU usage is low. Motherboard OC's it to 3.33GHz when usages increases.

Just needs a SSD to boot from to transform this bottlenecked PC into a lovely workhorse!

This is my work PC. Vastly outspecs my home PCs :(

FYI.. my motherboard developed the sandybridge problem with the SATA ports.. it only affects 2 out of the 6 ports on my mobo and as I only have a bd-rom hooked up it's not a big issue.. debating whether to RMA or not.. Edited by Stu

Might as well, you never know when you may need the sata ports

I thought intel were proactively recalling thier own boards

I didnt know about this issue, ive just been catching up on it. Does it only affect the i5 and i7 cpu's or are the i3's susceptible?

It's not the CPU, it's the sandy bridge chipset. It only affected the first batches afaik.
