Just curious really, would they go straight in, would the rear bench fit?

Got a feeling im going to become a somewhat regular on these tech boards!!!

Rear bench isn't a problem, front seats may not be a problem either depending on the year of your car.

Mk5b (http://www.escortevolution.co.uk/howto/yourcar.php) should have MK6 seat mounts. (I say should - my Mk5b ('93) Orion didn't).

9/10 times you'll find the rails are different.

only later model Mk5's had similar floor plans as the Mk6's

example,

My Mk5b's floor plan wasn't suitable for the fixing points on the wingback rails I took out of my Mk6, but as I wanted the Wingbacks I ended up stripping both the Mk6 and Mk5b seats down to their frames and then fitting the foam and covers from the Mk6 wingbacks into the Mk5b frames.

MK5b's from around July 1993 should have the MK6 type floorpan, but obviously cars built before then but not registered may still have the older style.

It is possible to fit the MK6 interior into an early MK5. but you'll have to mess about with the subframes. Can't see why you'd want to to be honest though. Fit some MK5 Recaro seats. They'll match the trim you've got, bolt straight in and are way way nicer than the GTI seats. The MK5 Recaros were the best ones from a comfort/support point of view.

Yeah i was just toying with the idea thats all as i actually have a set of mk6 seats at the moment. I have someone interested in buying them though so it was just an idea and i was interested to know if they'd fit.

Thanks for the replies :-)

recarros are the best for comfort? support??

There's a reason I rebuilt Mk6 Wingbacks into Mk5b frames (and btw you don't need to touch the subframe ?( ) the cost all in all was above the average Recarro Jobbies but Wingbacks pee all over their rarer brothers in terms of comfort and support as well as driving position.

compare them out on a trackday and you'll still find the Recarros let you slide about more so than the chunky shoulder hugging bolsters of the wingbacks while the harder base of the Recaros will see your ar5e full on numb to the world in motorway mileage.

Even when given the choice I still opted for wingbacks and recovered them (even tho they were the muchly sought after Flow Raven Recarro pattern)

the mk6 subframes are part of the seat and won't bolt into the mk5 floor pan, you can fit mk5 seats into the later cars by using the mk3.5 fiesta seat runners. recaros own wingbacks, although wingbacks are good, the mk5 recaros are some of the softest seats out there shaw ???

Hmm, thanks for that. I still can't decide myself which ones I like more. Mk5 Recaros or Fiesta Mk3.5 Wingbacks. For purely snobbish reasons I fitted the Recaros, but I always have a nagging voice in the back of my head going... "you know that those wingbacks are much more comfy for a fat b*stard doing 80 miles a day"... Shame I have to be such a poser

On the other hand having mint Recaros always forces me to change after work and clean the car at least once a week.
