Can someone please tell me how the hell you remove the handbrake handle on a Escort MK6

I have no idea!

 

and would a new handbrake just slide on to it? or would it need anything else

Cut down the top of the rubber handle with a stanley knife and it falls off!

 

Then it should be straight forward installing your new one, what type is it?

I havn't got one yet, just wondered if there was a certain type i would need?

EDIT: also, will teh button just fall out aswell after i cut the handle off?

A universal one like that will be fine

 

I've got an all aluminium richbrook one for sale removed from a mk6 if you interested?

 

The button remains attached btw mate

How much for?

 

and is it a case of cutting the old one off and sliding the new one on?

They are about £30 new so I'll do it for £15 posted

 

Cut the old one off

Bit of adhesive to stick new aluminium button on

Think I bound a bit of insulation tape round end on handle so it was snug

Then slide on main sleeve and do up 3 allen screws

And slide down cover ring and do up allen screw

Pull gaitor up and your done

 

Looks like this, I will just need to check its all complete

Where are the screws and allan keys on the handle??

so that is 15 quid including the posting and packing?

Yeah 3 screws at the gaitor end of the handle, they get covered with the cover ring that the gaitor pulls over

 

Its pretty self-explanatory when you see it!

 

Yeah I'll do it all in for £15
