Posted February 11, 201113 yr I have a car that has silly metal valve caps, and the tyre valves I’m sure are aluminium, they have been on since I got the car, but I’d really like to get them off, what’s the best solution for separating them as they seem to have bonded themselves together?
February 11, 201113 yr probably easier to have a tyre place replace the valves. i had to do that when i bought a car and the caps where seized solid on the valve

February 11, 201113 yr If they are the hex shaped ones have you tried a socket? Soak them with WD40 first and use molegrips if not
February 11, 201113 yr Author I need to keep the valve, as its programmed to the car I did Dan, but without the WD, ill give it another shot in the morning. Do you think a bit of heat would help?
February 11, 201113 yr I little would but be careful not to burn the rubber If you could remove the wheel and submerge the cap in WD40 or plusgas it may well undo?
February 12, 201113 yr I had to work at mine carefully with a small dremell until I could tear the aluminium away with long nose pliars. Took ages though so as not to damage the valve. What do you mean programmed? Edited February 12, 201113 yr by PeeWee

February 12, 201113 yr Author Well it is a 'Lux' Valves are fine, its just the crappy valve caps someones put on two of them. It wouldnt bother me if they wern't on it, I can't mega see the point in them
February 12, 201113 yr if they are very soft cheap aluminium you could hacksaw into them to weaken them the pull them off with mole grips, do you have decent access to them or is the wheel in the way Edited February 12, 201113 yr by ScORTED
February 12, 201113 yr Author N, they stick out a fair bit, so ill have a go like you and Pete say later on while the sun is out
February 12, 201113 yr Be careful not to rip the metal part of the valve out the rubber bit... They're only bonded together! I did that with mine and the tyre was flat in seconds! Had to have the valve replaced!
